Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Wednesday 👋

🐝 Project Apis m.: Planting Flowers for Honey Bees on Farms That Produce Healthy Food as Part of The Most Impactful Advent Calendar

🎄📅 In case you missed it: We are currently creating The Most Impactful Advent Calendar for you, to provide an impactful alternative to the mainstream Advent calendars that mostly offer short-lived joy through unhealthy sweets or cheap toys!

And so far, they have infused over $10 million into honey bee research and $2.9 million into forage programs, resulting in science-driven resources for bees and beekeepers. 📢 More Good News…

☀️ A breakthrough in solar battery technology:

  • Researchers at the Polytechnic University of Catalunya (UPC) have developed a groundbreaking hybrid solar energy storage device that addresses key challenges in renewable energy.
  • The new device combines a silicon solar cell with the MOST system, which uses a specially designed molecule made of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. When exposed to sunlight, these organic molecules undergo a chemical transformation, allowing them to store energy for later use.
  • Though this technology is still in the development phase, the team envisions it could eventually be used as a retrofit upgrade for existing solar installations.

🧊 How scientists are re-growing sea ice:

  •  A UK start-up called Real Ice has shown promising results in trials aimed at thickening Arctic sea ice.
  • In collaboration with the Centre for Climate Repair at the University of Cambridge, the project pumps seawater onto the surface of ice sheets, where it fills air pockets in the snow and freezes, adding new layers of ice. Early tests in the Canadian Arctic have resulted in 25 cm of new ice growth.
  • This method could help preserve Arctic sea ice, which is rapidly diminishing and expected to disappear during summer months as early as the 2030s.

🪨 Microsoft invests in carbon capture technology:

  • UNDO has signed a deal with Microsoft to remove 15,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. The enhanced deal will see UNDO spread 65,000 tonnes of silicate rock in the UK and Canada using the process of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW).
  • ERW accelerates the natural weathering process of rocks, which captures CO2 from the atmosphere. When silicate rock is crushed and spread on agricultural land, it reacts with CO2 in rainwater, turning it into solid carbon that can be stored for thousands of years.
  • With Microsoft’s backing, UNDO aims to demonstrate ERW as a reliable and scalable solution for carbon removal, advancing the science and technology necessary to meet global climate targets.
