💚 The Right To A Clean Environment 🌍

Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,
Happy Wednesday 👋
Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time—one that impacts ecosystems, economies, and lives worldwide…
But there’s a powerful wave of action and hope rising!
People everywhere are stepping up to reverse the damage and create a healthier, more sustainable future!
In the US, youth environmentalists recently achieved a groundbreaking legal victory, ruling for the constitutional a clean and healthful environment.

Here are the impactful insights that I have for you today:
- US state upholds landmark youth climate ruling 🌍
- Empowering orphaned children until next year 💚
- The innovative way to make heat pumps more affordable 🔥
- Scientists discover 27 new species in the Peruvian rainforest 🇵🇪
- And more… 💚

🌍 The Landmark Youth Climate Ruling That Recognizes the Constitutional Right to a Clean Environment
1️⃣ The big picture: The US state of Montana’s Supreme Court has upheld a historic climate ruling, affirming that the state violated its constitutional obligation to maintain a clean and healthful environment by permitting fossil fuel projects without considering their climate impacts. Filed in 2020 by 16 young Montanans, aged 7 to 23 at the time, the case argued that the state’s approval of oil, gas, and coal projects contributed to climate change, undermining their constitutional rights to a clean environment. The court rejected the state’s argument that Montana’s emissions are negligible globally, emphasizing that environmental rights must be protected independently of others’ actions.
2️⃣ Why is this good news: The 6-1 decision, announced on December 18, 2024, reinforces the constitutional rights of Montanans to challenge environmentally harmful actions, marking a significant victory for climate activists. The ruling mandates that Montana must evaluate greenhouse gas emissions and climate impacts for all future fossil fuel projects. The decision is seen as a significant step in recognizing and enforcing the environmental rights of citizens in the face of global climate challenges.
3️⃣ What’s next: The decision adds momentum to youth-led climate litigation across the US and globally, where courts are increasingly asked to hold governments accountable for addressing the climate crisis. Montana joins a handful of US states with constitutional protections for the environment, such as Hawaii, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. Environmental advocates view the ruling as a milestone for using legal frameworks to advance climate action, with potential ripple effects for similar lawsuits across the country.

📢 More Good News…
⚡ How body heat can power wearable electronics:
- Researchers at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia have developed an ultra-thin, flexible film capable of converting body heat into electricity, an invention which could become a major renewable energy source for wearable electronics.
- Key to the innovation is the introduction of “nanobinders,” tiny crystals that enable the creation of an efficient, flexible film. This film has a high thermoelectric performance, exceptional flexibility, and low production costs, making it a strong candidate for large-scale manufacturing.
- While the technology is still in development, the potential applications are vast, from wearable devices to cooling chips in electronics like smartphones, contributing to energy efficiency in personal gadgets.
🔥 The innovative way to make heat pumps more affordable:
- Aria, a Swedish clean energy company, is revolutionizing the heat pump market with its subscription-based model, aimed at making sustainable heating more accessible to European homeowners.
- Traditionally, heat pumps can cost upwards of €11,500 for purchase and installation, but Aria’s plan allows consumers to spread payments over a more affordable monthly fee, starting at around €6,600.
- Aria, founded in 2022, is expanding its services to countries like Germany, Italy, and the UK, with a goal to switch five million homes to heat pumps by 2030. Research indicates that financial barriers remain, but with more affordable options like Aria’s subscription model, adoption could grow significantly.
🇵🇪 Scientists discover 27 new species in the Peruvian rainforest:
- An expedition led by Conservation International has led to the discovery of 27 new species in the Alto Mayo Landscape of Peru.
- Among the new species found are four mammals, including a rare semi-aquatic mouse (Daptomys sp.), a blob-headed fish (Chaetostoma sp.), and a rain frog, as well as eight new fish species, three amphibians, and several insects and plants. The expedition utilized cutting-edge technologies, including automated camera traps and environmental DNA, and worked closely with local Indigenous communities.
- This study underscores the importance of biodiversity conservation, sustainable human practices, and the collaboration between modern science and Indigenous knowledge in safeguarding Earth’s ecosystems.
