DAY 14
You’ve Provided Dance Lessons & Schooling for a Kid in Need
Together with Fundación Sondeluz
š¤
What is your positive impact today?
Today, you’ve provided dance lessons and schooling to help a troubled kid reintegrate into society as part of a holistic Padrino program. This program is especially for kids from the poorest neighborhoods who are interested in expressing their artistic side via dance but lack the basic economic means. As a Padrino for the day, you enable one economically troubled kid to go to school today (including paying for school fees) and build up on this with a dance lesson to create opportunities for them to believe in their future.

Why is your impact important?
At the moment, nearly one in ten of the crimes in Colombia are committed by children and adolescents. One big problem is their lack of money and opportunities. Too many of these kids have economic difficulties that sometimes lead them to withdraw from or not return to schoolāsimply because they do not have the money to pay the school fee or the transportation to get there. Providing both the basic needs of schooling and opportunities via dance allows us to create a permanent social fabric to help the community.

How are we achieving your impact together?
Our impactful partner for today is Fundación Sondeluz. Founded in 2000, they have quickly become one of the best dance schools in Colombia, forming a number of world champions and directing multiple national and international competitions. Through their dance classes and projects, children and young professionals are being formed in dance, following a structured and disciplined approach, making them more than world champions of salsa: making them world champions of their own lives!
More About Fundación Sondeluz
Sondeluz was founded in September 2000 by La Maestra Luz Aydé and has quickly developed into one of the best dancing schools in Colombia. They have trained a number of students to become world champions and participate in global shows all around the world. Today, Sondeluz has four main components: The Dance School for artistic training from early childhood to seniors; the Dance Academy to learn and appreciate the dance in a more academic and structured way; the Artistic Company, which is their team of professional and elite artists, who perform shows, dance works, and participate in local, national, and international competitions; and the Fundación Sondeluz through which they create a permanent social fabric, to help the community, providing job opportunities and offering scholarships for children, youth, and adults with dance talent.
To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on Earth and it is yours for the taking.
