Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,
Happy Wednesday 👋
No sun? No problem!
Scientists in China have just unveiled a revolutionary device that can turn falling raindrops into clean electricity.
It’s lightweight, low-cost, and proves that renewable energy doesn’t have to stop when the rain starts.
Turns out that pouring rain could help us power a greener future!

Here are the impactful insights that I have for you today:
- The floating technology that can turn raindrops into electricity ⛈️
- Green sea turtle populations rebound after decades of decline 🐢
- The world’s first wind-solar generator that breathes like a tree ⚡
- Discussion of the week: talking about climate 💬
- And more… 💚

⛈️ Scientists Develop a Floating Generator That Can Turn Falling Raindrops Into Electricity
1️⃣ The big picture: Researchers at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics have developed a floating droplet electricity generator (W-DEG) — a lightweight, water-integrated device that produces electricity from falling raindrops. The W-DEG design floats directly on water, eliminating the need for a solid base. In this setup, ions in the water serve as charge carriers, allowing it to act as an effective electrode. The result is a system that’s 80% lighter and 50% cheaper than conventional versions while maintaining comparable power output—about 250 volts per droplet.
2️⃣ Why is this good news: Traditional droplet electricity generators produce power when raindrops strike a dielectric film placed on a solid substrate. While capable of generating high voltages, these systems are expensive, rigid, and difficult to scale. Unlike conventional generators that rely on rigid metal electrodes and heavy materials, this new system uses water itself as both a structural and electrical component, offering a more eco-friendly, scalable, and low-cost method for renewable energy generation.
3️⃣ What’s next: While the prototype shows immense promise, scientists acknowledge the need to address challenges such as variations in raindrop size and impact velocity, as well as ensuring the durability of large-scale dielectric surfaces. Still, this marks a major step toward land-free, scalable hydrovoltaic energy systems that could complement existing renewable sources like solar and wind.

📢 More Good News…
🏠 How a new roof coating can fight heat and drought:
- Australian scientists from the University of Sydney have developed a new roof coating that can cool buildings passively—reducing roof surface temperatures by up to 6°C below the surrounding air on hot days—and even extract water from the atmosphere through condensation.
- The coating works through a porous film that reflects 96% of incoming solar radiation, preventing heat absorption, and emits infrared radiation to release heat into outer space—a process known as passive radiative cooling. This makes the roof’s surface cooler than the surrounding air, even under direct sunlight.
- Experts believe this development could hit commercial markets before 2030, and the researchers say their “cool roof” paint could become a key tool for resilient architecture in hotter, drier futures.
🐢 Green sea turtle populations rebound after decades of decline:
- The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recently reclassified green sea turtles from endangered to least concern, noting that global populations have increased nearly 30% since the 1970s.
- This success is largely thanks to international bans on sea turtle trade, national laws protecting nesting beaches and eggs, and community conservation programs that patrol beaches and reduce poaching.
- The green turtle’s recovery is one of few bright spots amid widespread global biodiversity loss — but continued vigilance and long-term conservation are crucial to ensure they never again approach extinction.
⚡The world’s first wind-solar generator that breathes like a tree:
- Spanish company Soleolico has unveiled the world’s first hybrid generator that not only produces clean energy from wind and solar power but also absorbs carbon dioxide from the air.
- The 7.5 kW generator is a vertical-axis turbine with a tower and blades that are coated with a 3D-printed material made with Pure.Tech technology, which absorbs CO2 and converts it into harmless byproducts. According to the company, installing 1,000 units could remove as much CO2 as 287 trees each year.
- Soleolico plans to capture 1% of the global renewable energy market within the next decade by manufacturing 3 million units and building its first production facility in Spain.
