Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Wednesday 👋

After years of warnings from scientists about skyrocketing greenhouse gas emissions, the world may have a glimmer of hope!

Thanks to nations finally following through on their Paris Agreement pledges, the world is now on track to slash emissions by 12% by 2035.

It’s a crucial first step toward bending the planet-heating curve downward and making our planet sustainable for future generations!

Here are the impactful insights that I have for you today:

  • Global emissions set to fall 12% thanks to climate pledges 🌎
  • How Brazil’s billion-dollar fund can help end deforestation 🌳
  • The new carbon capture technology targeting aluminum 🪙
  • Discussion of the week: making sustainability the easy choice 💬
  • And more… 💚

🌎 Turning the Climate Corner: Countries Aim for 12% Emissions Cut by 2035

1️⃣ The big picture: The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) released an updated analysis of countries’ climate pledges—known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)—ahead of the COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil. According to the findings, if all current pledges are fully implemented, global greenhouse gas emissions in 2035 would be about 12% lower than they were in 2019. This marks a measurable improvement from previous projections and reflects progress driven by the Paris Agreement’s requirement that countries increase the ambition of their climate plans every 5 years.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Global climate change has been trending sharply upward over the past century, and greenhouse gas concentrations, including CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide, have reached record highs, driving this warming and causing related impacts such as ocean heat accumulation, sea level rise, and accelerated glacier melt. UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell highlighted that this is the first time global emissions projections are trending downward, calling it a key milestone.

3️⃣ What’s next: The updated pledges show that the world is beginning to reduce emissions; however, the pace of change is not yet aligned with the climate goals needed to prevent severe and irreversible climate impacts. The report signals both progress and urgency: the policies in place are working, but countries must scale up their efforts significantly to avert the worst consequences of climate change.

📢 More Good News…

🌳 How Brazil’s billion dollar fund can help end deforestation:

  • Brazil has launched the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), an ambitious investment fund aimed at raising $125 billion from governments, foundations, and private investors. The fund would invest this capital in financial markets, and the investment returns would be used to pay countries for maintaining their forests.
  • Unlike traditional programs that pay individual landowners or operate on project-level measurements, the TFFF evaluates country-wide progress, supporting national policies that reduce deforestation.
  • Overall, the TFFF is a promising strategy to shift global economic incentives toward forest protection, but its success depends on strong coordination with regional governments and local communities on the ground.

🪙 The new carbon capture technology targeting aluminum:

  • Verdox, a US climate tech company, has successfully demonstrated a new, all-electric carbon capture system that can trap CO₂ emissions directly from aluminum smelting, one of the hardest industrial sources to decarbonize.
  • The technology relies on an electrochemical process rather than heat or chemical solvents, making it potentially more energy-efficient, cost-effective, and compatible with renewable electricity.
  • Verdox is now scaling toward larger pilots, with its first commercial deployment targeted around 2029. If successful, this approach could enable significant decarbonization in heavy industries where emissions have been extremely difficult to eliminate.

🎄 The most impactful Advent calendar that gives back this season:

  • Did you know that Impactful Ninja has launched its very own Advent calendar? Not only is it fully sustainable, but with every purchase, you automatically support 24 real-world good deeds done on your behalf by our partner organizations.
  • 75% of the purchase price goes to 24 great organizations. And each door you open reveals a new good deed, along with a QR code that links to a web page with more information and a personal video. The good deeds cover diverse causes from gifting a free tree for a child to plant to providing hygiene kits to those in need and empowering orphans.
  • I loved surprising my family members with this very special advent calendar and my family members told me their Most Impactful Advent Calendar was their favorite gift this year! They loved opening the windows each day to see the good deeds. I will definitely order them again next year. This was a really special gift!
