Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Belgium has launched a €5.6 million ($6.5M) CO2 DISRUPT project to develop economically viable carbon capture technology for industrial emissions, enabling decarbonization in sectors with limited solutions.
📈 One key stat: More than half of global anthropogenic CO2 emissions come from flue gases with concentrations between 4-15%, representing a critical gap that this technology aims to address.
💬 One key quote: “This project demonstrates that Wallonia can be at the cutting edge of innovation in the field of industrial decarbonisation while creating local value”, says Aurélien Vantomme, R&D Director at ARK Capture Solutions.

1️⃣ The big picture: A consortium of six Walloon industrial and research partners has launched CO2 DISRUPT, a €5.6 million ($6.5 million) project aimed at capturing carbon dioxide from low-concentration industrial flue gases. Led by ARK Capture Solutions with government support, the initiative features a mobile capture unit designed to collect 1-2 tons of CO2 daily directly from chimney outlets. The technology will undergo testing at three industrial facilities, targeting sectors like steel, energy, glass, and petrochemicals where no commercially viable capture solutions currently exist. This project addresses a major gap in decarbonization technology for emissions sources that represent more than half of global anthropogenic CO2.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This innovative project tackles a critical blind spot in industrial decarbonization where no cost-effective solutions previously existed. The mobile capture technology has potential applications across multiple heavy industries including steel, energy, glass and petrochemicals. Beyond environmental benefits, it creates pathways for producing low-carbon steel, decarbonized electricity, and food-grade biogenic CO2. The initiative strengthens regional competitiveness while protecting jobs and builds valuable local expertise in carbon capture. With the global CO2 capture market expected to reach 4 billion tons by 2050, representing a $1.85 trillion equipment market, Wallonia is positioning itself as a technology leader in this growing sector.

3️⃣ What’s next: The mobile capture unit will be tested at three industrial sites: Aperam Châtelet, ArcelorMittal Industeel Belgium, and Cinergie Fleurus. Scientific expertise from UMONS and Certech will support gas separation, purification, modeling, and analytics throughout the testing phase. Following successful demonstration, the technology aims to fill a crucial market gap for emissions in the 4-15% concentration range.
