Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Monday 👋

🤝 Event of the Week: World Humanitarian Day

👉 Did you know that tomorrow (August 19) is World Humanitarian Day? This raises awareness of the amazing, selfless work conducted by humanitarian aid workers around the world.

1️⃣ The big picture: World Humanitarian Day was founded by the United Nations in 2008 in response to the 2003 bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, killing 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sérgio Vieira de Mello. Since its founding, World Humanitarian Day has become the annual flagship campaign for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Each year, the event focuses on a particular theme to bring together partners from across the humanitarian system and celebrate their dedication and achievements.

2️⃣ Why is this important: Humanitarian aid workers risk their own lives to protect others. In fact, in 2023 alone, 595 aid workers were injured on duty, with 280 deaths and 91 kidnappings. However, no matter the danger, humanitarian aid workers are always on the front line, venturing deep into the disaster-stricken regions that need them most. Furthermore, humanitarian aid workers returning from humanitarian missions have increased symptoms of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in World Humanitarian Day by honoring the humanitarian workers in your community through gift giving or holding an awareness event. You can also get involved by supporting an emergency appeal or raising awareness through your social media channels using the #WorldHumanitarianDay hashtag.

Below are our favorite charities that are especially relevant for this awareness event:

📢 Three Good News

🤖 World-first AI robot that performs autonomous hybrid pollination:

  • Chinese scientists have unveiled GEAIR, an AI-powered robot that can autonomously perform hybrid pollination without human intervention. This first-of-its-kind technology combines artificial intelligence with biotechnology to handle precision tasks that were traditionally labor-intensive and error-prone.
  • This innovation represents a significant advancement in agricultural technology that addresses growing food production challenges.
  • Researchers plan to expand GEAIR’s applications beyond its current capabilities, potentially adapting it for various crop species.

Solar-powered yacht tender eliminates fuel needs with innovative recharging system:

  • The boating industry is taking a major step forward in sustainability with the introduction of the Sunpower Solar-eJET 3.3m inflatable tender. This innovative vessel recharges directly through yacht-integrated solar energy systems.
  • Unlike traditional tenders that require gasoline or shore power, this model harnesses renewable energy while maintaining high performance with its 22 kW electric jet drive.
  • As this technology gains adoption, manufacturers might expand the range to include various sizes and configurations to meet different boating needs.

🌳 12-year-old creates community fruit forests across India:

  • Prasiddhi Singh, a 12-year-old environmentalist from Tamil Nadu, India, has emerged as a powerful voice in sustainability by planting over 150,000 trees nationwide.
  • After witnessing the destruction caused by Cyclone Vardah at age seven, she founded the Prasiddhi Forest Foundation and developed innovative ‘fruit forests’ that combine ecological restoration with community benefits.
  • Prasiddhi aims to plant one million trees in the coming years while working to integrate fruit forests into school systems across India. She’s also developing a children’s book about climate action to inspire more young people.
