💚 Celebrating Man’s Best Friend 🐶
Affiliate Disclosure
Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,
Happy Monday 👋

Here are the impactful insights that I have for you today:

🐶 Event of the Week: National Dog Day
👉 Did you know that tomorrow (August 26) is National Dog Day? This annual event is used to celebrate the bond we share with dogs as pets and working companions. It’s also used to raise awareness of the millions of dogs that are still in desperate need of forever homes or living in abusive environments.
1️⃣ The big picture: National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by animal welfare advocate and conservationist Colleen Paige, who also founded many other philanthropic holidays such as National Pet Day and National Puppy Day. Her aim for National Dog Day was to celebrate all dog breeds and help those who are languishing in shelters to find their forever homes. Since its founding, National Dog Day has become a popular celebration of our canine companions, both mixed-bred and pure. It’s also a time to honor the canines that work selflessly to save our lives as working dogs, whether as blind companions or police dogs.
2️⃣ Why is this important: Around the world, there are estimated to be more than 470 million dogs kept as pets. Unfortunately, dogs are one of the most abused pet animals in the world, alongside cats and horses, with 10 million companion animals abused every year in the US alone. Furthermore, approximately 3.1 million dogs enter animal shelters every year, with 390,000 shelter dogs euthanized in these establishments annually. To improve the lives of dogs, we need to better understand the needs of our canine companions and ensure resources are in place to support pet owners and shelters all around the world.
3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in National Dog Day by setting up a fundraising event for shelters or spreading awareness through your social media channels using the hashtag #NationalDogDay. Alternatively, you can consider adopting a dog from an animal shelter or even throwing your own National Dog Day party! In addition, don’t forget to give your canine extra healthy treats and fuss on this day to show your appreciation for their companionship!

📢 Three Good News
🧑💻 New AI tool cuts fusion reactor design time from hours to milliseconds:
- A new AI tool called HEAT-ML accelerates fusion reactor research by identifying magnetic shadows inside reactors in milliseconds instead of half an hour, potentially bringing practical clean fusion energy closer to reality.
- HEAT-ML’s ability to instantly identify shielded areas helps prevent component damage from extreme plasma heat, extending reactor lifespans and minimizing operational disruptions.
- Future development will extend the AI’s application to all plasma-facing components inside a fusion reactor, creating a universal tool for fusion engineering.
💚 New green credit insurance unlocks investment for climate projects:
- Carbon insurer Oka has launched green credit insurance that accelerates investment in climate transition projects by providing risk coverage for a wide range of sustainable financing instruments.
- This insurance innovation tackles a major barrier in climate finance by providing security for investors backing essential decarbonization projects.
- The expanded coverage goes beyond carbon insurance to include a comprehensive suite of financial instruments like pre-payments for carbon credits, green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and credit guarantees for climate projects.
🏞️ Finnish village transforms mining disaster into thriving wildlife sanctuary:
- A Finnish village transformed a barren peat mining site into a thriving wetland that now hosts 190 bird species and serves as both wildlife habitat and carbon sink, showing how communities can reverse environmental damage through collective action.
- After acidic runoff from a peat mining operation killed wildlife in the local Jukajoki River in 2010, residents took action by purchasing and restoring the 1.1 square kilometer site
- This innovative approach not only restored the damaged landscape but turned it from a carbon source into a carbon sink while providing habitat for 190 bird species, including endangered ones.
