Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: China’s overseas investments in renewable energy have surpassed fossil fuels for the first time since the early 2000s, marking a significant shift in global energy finance that can help reduce carbon emissions worldwide.
📈 One key stat: From 2022 to 2023, 68% of China’s investments in overseas power went to solar and wind projects, compared to just 13% from 2000 to 2021, showing a dramatic shift in energy priorities.
💬 One key quote: “This shift does not represent a significant ramp-up in renewables, as the scale of financing remains relatively small,” the researchers said.

1️⃣ The big picture: China has transformed its overseas energy investment strategy, with renewable sources now exceeding fossil fuels for the first time in two decades. According to a new analysis from Boston University, 68% of China’s foreign power investments went to solar and wind projects during 2022-2023, up from just 13% in previous years. This shift follows President Xi Jinping’s 2021 pledge to stop financing new coal power plants abroad through the Belt and Road Initiative. The change highlights China’s growing dominance in renewable technologies and critical mineral supply chains while potentially reducing future carbon emissions across developing nations.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This investment shift signals a meaningful reduction in future carbon emissions from developing countries that rely on Chinese funding for energy infrastructure. The transition aligns with global climate goals by decreasing reliance on coal power plants that would otherwise lock countries into decades of carbon-intensive electricity. Chinese renewable technology can help bring clean energy access to regions with limited electricity, particularly in Asia and the Americas. The trend demonstrates that even amid economic challenges, China recognizes the strategic and economic value of supporting green energy development internationally. This pivot may encourage other major funders to prioritize clean energy in their overseas investments.

3️⃣ What’s next: China might increase its renewable investments abroad, as evidenced by its recent $51 billion commitment to support African development with 30 low-carbon energy projects. Private Chinese companies could further expand overseas clean energy funding as state financing agencies pull back. More strategic investments in African nations may follow, as currently only 4% of China’s overseas wind and solar investments flow to the continent.
