Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: A Danish entrepreneur is converting hundreds of hectares of farmland into wetlands, forests, and wildlife habitats across Denmark, showing that private investment in nature restoration can be both ecologically valuable and financially viable.
📈 One key stat: Roughly 60% of Denmark’s land area is used for agriculture, leaving very little space for natural ecosystems to thrive.
💬 One key quote: “The goal is not to generate large profits but to show that nature restoration projects can still produce modest financial returns,” said Jacob Jelsing, founder of Earthbreak.

1️⃣ The big picture: Denmark has lost much of its natural landscape over the past two centuries as farmland expanded to cover around 60% of the country, pushing wildlife habitats to the margins. Danish biotech entrepreneur Jacob Jelsing is now taking direct action by purchasing farmland and converting it into wetlands, forests, and wildflower meadows through his company Earthbreak. Once acquired, agricultural production is phased out and ecological restoration begins, including re-wetting drained fields, planting native trees, and reintroducing grazing animals to mimic natural processes. Earthbreak has already acquired hundreds of hectares across Denmark, with sites open to visitors and generating strong public interest. Beyond Denmark, Jelsing hopes to prove that private capital can play a meaningful role in scaling up biodiversity restoration across Europe.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Private investment in nature restoration is gaining traction as a credible and financially sustainable model, with even modest annual returns of around 2% potentially attracting a new wave of conservation-minded investors. Restored landscapes bring back insects, birds, and mammals to areas that intensive agriculture had largely emptied of wildlife. Re-wetting formerly drained farmland also helps reduce fertilizer runoff that has long damaged Danish fjords and marine ecosystems. Strong public turnout at restored sites shows that communities are eager to reconnect with nature and support large-scale ecological recovery. As more investors and entrepreneurs see nature restoration as a long-term asset, this model has the potential to transform significant areas of degraded farmland across Europe into thriving ecosystems.

3️⃣ What’s next: Earthbreak plans to expand its portfolio of restored properties across Denmark and use early results to attract investors interested in long-term ecological assets. Navigating permits and land-use regulations designed for agriculture remains a key challenge that advocates hope will push policymakers to modernize conservation frameworks. If the financial model proves replicable, similar private rewilding initiatives could emerge across Europe, complementing government conservation programs.
