DAY 1

You’ve Gifted a Free Tree to a Kid to Plant in Their Backyard

Together with Neighborhood Forest

🤝

What is your positive impact today?

Today, you gifted one child a tree to plant in their own backyard. While your gifted tree has tremendous health, environmental, and economic benefits over its lifetime, you are also gifting the wondrous joy to a child to plant and watch a tree grow from seedling to maturity. In addition, about 50% of all trees gifted are in low-income communities or underserved populations (20% of the population or more are below the poverty level).

💚

Why is your impact important?

Children love trees! And you gifted one child the priceless joy of planting their very own tree, of watching it grow, and growing up together with it—to eventually become a tree and nature ambassador. In the process, you help beautify our neighborhoods, reduce our carbon footprint, and instill in the hearts of our little ones a sense of magic, wonder, and love for our planet.

And while getting to plant and watch a tree grow from seedling to maturity is priceless, the estimated health, environmental, and economic benefits from one urban tree over its lifetime is $30,000-$70,000.

⚒️

How are we achieving your impact together?

Our impactful partner for today is Neighborhood Forest. And they distribute your tree to a child and their family via their schools, library, or youth group this upcoming Earth Week (April 22-30). In total, they work with about 1,500 coordinators to bring this program (and literally your gifted tree) to life together with over 100,000 volunteers who are involved in the tree planting including children, parents, guardians, grandparents & siblings.

More About Neighborhood Forest

Neighborhood Forest was founded in 2010 by Vikas Narula to give children the experience of growing trees after he was introduced to a free tree project in Ohio. Today, the charity works to reduce America’s carbon footprint, beautify our neighborhoods, and instill a love of nature in children through their Plant-a-Tree mission.
