Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Monday 👋

💡 Event of the Week: Energy Saving Week

👉 Did you know that this week is Energy Saving Week? This is an awareness event dedicated to conserving energy and making others aware of the best ways to cut down on their usage

1️⃣ The big picture: Energy Saving Week was founded in 2012 by the UK Citizens Advice Bureau and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. It was founded as a way to reduce the impact of climate change, but also to support lower-income families and individuals to reduce their energy bills and combat fuel poverty. Since its founding, Energy Saving Week has grown in popularity, with over 1800 people engaging with the official hashtag, #EnergySavingWeek. Many corporations and organizations, such as the Energy Saving Trust, Bywaters, and Utility Aid, also use Energy Saving Week as an opportunity to share tips about saving energy.

2️⃣ Why is this important: The US wastes the most energy in the world, with an energy efficiency of only 48%. This means that 52% of the energy we produce is never used! Furthermore, 60% of all the energy we use in the US is generated from fossil fuels, with only 21.4% generated from renewable sources. Worldwide, 34 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide is released every year because of burning fossil fuels, which has a devastating impact on the environment. Cutting down on energy usage is imperative to prevent serious planetary destruction.

3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in Energy Saving Week by trying to reduce the amount of electricity you use, benefiting both yourself and the planet as a whole. If you’re not sure where to start, you can have a read up on the best ways to conserve energy in your everyday life. You can also spread awareness to others about climate change and the importance of reducing your energy usage by using the #EnergySavingWeek, #GoGreen, or #EnergySaving hashtags.

  • Their flagship project aims to become the UK’s first climate GCSE game, designed in collaboration with prestigious universities and aligned with the Department for Education’s curriculum.

🐋 North Atlantic right whale births surge, population grows 70% since 2020:

  • Scientists monitoring North Atlantic right whales have documented 15 new calves this winter, a meaningful increase for a species that has struggled against extinction.
  • After reaching a concerning low point earlier this decade, the population now stands at an estimated 384 individuals, reflecting a 7% growth since 2020.
  • However, for meaningful recovery, NOAA Fisheries estimates that approximately 50 calves per year would need to be born over many years.

🇺🇦 Ukraine develops carbon market to fund recovery and build resilience amid war:

  • Ukraine is developing a carbon market amid war that can support postwar recovery, fund reforestation of damaged land, and strengthen the country’s resilience against future conflicts.
  • Russia’s war has contaminated 2.4 million hectares of Ukrainian agricultural land with unexploded ordnance, an area almost the size of Wales, threatening food security and ecosystem health.
  • Ukraine’s proposed market aims to support recovery efforts while the public budget is stretched thin, potentially bringing in billions of dollars for critical restoration and renewable energy projects.
