Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Forest restoration projects worldwide are successfully capturing carbon, protecting biodiversity, and supporting local communities, making them essential tools in the fight against climate change.
📈 One key stat: Forests absorbed 18% of all human-caused carbon emissions annually between 2001 and 2019, highlighting their crucial role in regulating our climate.
💬 One key quote: “Nature-based solutions (NbS) like forest restoration are powerful, cost-effective strategies to combat climate change. These vital ecosystems sequester carbon and provide long-term benefits for biodiversity and local communities, making them essential for achieving global climate goals.”

1️⃣ The big picture: Forests cover one-third of Earth’s land surface and play a vital role in combating climate change through carbon sequestration. They absorb significant amounts of carbon dioxide, with estimates suggesting they captured 18% of annual human emissions between 2001-2019. Beyond climate benefits, forests support biodiversity, provide livelihoods for 1.6 billion people, and regulate water cycles. Despite their importance, deforestation continues to contribute approximately 15% of global carbon emissions, threatening our ability to meet climate goals. Numerous restoration projects worldwide are working to reverse this damage by revitalizing degraded forests.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Forest restoration initiatives are already showing remarkable success across the globe. The Trinational Atlantic Forest Pact has restored over 700,000 hectares across Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, creating wildlife corridors for endangered species. In Africa, the Great Green Wall project has reclaimed 30 million hectares across 20 countries. Indigenous communities are proving to be exceptional forest stewards, with deforestation rates two to three times lower on their lands compared to outside areas. These restoration efforts provide multiple benefits beyond carbon capture – they improve water security, create green jobs, protect biodiversity, and build community resilience against climate impacts.

3️⃣ What’s next: To accelerate forest restoration efforts, increased funding from both public and private sectors is essential. Recognizing and empowering Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities as key partners will be critical for success. The recent adoption of Article 8(J) during the 2024 UN Biodiversity Conference marks a positive step forward by securing protection for Indigenous Peoples as stewards of biodiversity.
