Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: France banned PFAS above strict thresholds in textiles, cosmetics, footwear, and waterproofing products starting January 2026, setting a new global standard for protecting people from harmful forever chemicals in everyday consumer goods.
📈 One key stat: PFAS was found in the blood of 97% of tested Americans, highlighting just how widespread human exposure to these harmful synthetic chemicals has become.
💬 One key quote: “France’s ban on forever chemicals forces companies to accelerate research into safer alternatives,” signaling a broader industry shift away from synthetic chemicals that have accumulated in human bodies and ecosystems for decades.

1️⃣ The big picture: France officially banned PFAS, a group of more than 10,000 synthetic chemicals known as forever chemicals, from textiles, cosmetics, footwear, waxes, and waterproofing products as of January 1, 2026. These chemicals earned their nickname because they never break down in nature and accumulate indefinitely in soil, water, air, and living organisms. Research has linked PFAS exposure to hormone disruption, weakened immune responses in children, reduced vaccine effectiveness, and kidney and testicular cancers. France’s new law sets specific concentration thresholds that manufacturers and importers must meet, and companies failing to comply face full prohibition of their products. With the EU considering a similar continent-wide ban, and several US states already enacting their own restrictions, France’s move signals a growing global push to eliminate forever chemicals from consumer products.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Protecting people from PFAS exposure at the consumer level is now a legal requirement in France, giving regulators clear enforcement tools and measurable thresholds to hold companies accountable. Because major brands typically reformulate products globally rather than maintaining separate versions for different markets, the French ban will likely push PFAS-free alternatives into supply chains far beyond France’s borders. Several safer technologies already exist, including plant-based water repellents, silicone-based coatings, and ceramic nanoparticles, meaning manufacturers have real options to switch to cleaner formulations. As more countries align with France’s approach, consumers around the world stand to benefit from products that no longer carry the hidden health costs of synthetic chemicals. France’s success could accelerate the EU’s own comprehensive PFAS restriction, potentially eliminating forever chemicals from consumer products across an entire continent.

3️⃣ What’s next: Companies selling in France must review their supply chains, test their formulations, and redesign non-compliant products before the 12-month transition window fully closes. France built in provisions to align its thresholds with future EU chemicals legislation, meaning the rules are likely to get stricter over time. If France demonstrates that reducing PFAS exposure is achievable without economic harm, other nations are expected to follow with similar regulations.
