Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Europe’s largest floating solar farm has begun operations in Perthes, France, transforming a former gravel extraction site into a renewable energy powerhouse capable of providing electricity for 37,000 people annually.
📈 One key stat: The floating solar farm will prevent 18,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, significantly contributing to France’s climate goals.
💬 One key quote: “Understanding the local dynamics allowed us to design a project that is both technically sound and integrated into the region,” Corentin Sivy, development director and deputy managing director of Q ENERGY France, said in a statement.

1️⃣ The big picture: Europe’s largest floating solar farm has just become operational in Perthes, France, bringing new life to a former industrial site. Built on a 127-hectare former gravel extraction pit that closed in 2020, the Les Îlots Blandin facility boasts over 135,000 photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 74.3 megawatt peak (MWp). This innovative project demonstrates how disused industrial sites can be repurposed for renewable energy generation without disrupting natural ecosystems or creating land use conflicts. The floating solar technology offers unique benefits, including better performance from water cooling and reduced water evaporation from the reservoir.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This renewable energy project transforms an abandoned industrial site into a productive clean energy generator, avoiding the land use conflicts that often plague renewable installations. The floating solar farm will generate enough electricity to power 37,000 homes while preventing 18,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Beyond carbon reduction, the installation offers additional environmental benefits by limiting bank erosion and reducing water evaporation. The success of this project creates a blueprint for similar developments across France and Europe, showing how private-public partnerships can overcome economic challenges in renewable energy scaling.

3️⃣ What’s next: France aims to continue expanding its renewable energy capacity to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Private investments, like those that supported Les Îlots Blandin, will remain crucial for future floating solar developments. Identifying more former industrial sites suitable for similar projects could further accelerate France’s clean energy transition without competing with agricultural or natural land use.
