Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: France’s first LGBTQIA+ senior living residence has opened in Lyon, giving older queer people a safe, inclusive community where they can live openly and combat the isolation that disproportionately affects them.
📈 One key stat: 65% of LGBTQIA+ seniors in France live alone — far above the 28–49% rate seen among the general elderly population — highlighting the urgent need for dedicated, inclusive housing.
💬 One key quote: “Being over 50 and trans is like having a double expiry date,” says Alice, a 58-year-old resident, “but there’ll be so much more scope for dating here than there was in Mâcon. Now I can be myself all the time, and no one is going to judge, laugh or comment.”

1️⃣ The big picture: La Maison de la Diversité, France’s first social housing project designed for LGBTQIA+ seniors and allies, opened in Lyon in October 2025 with 16 apartments for residents aged 18 and above. Developed by the organization Les Audacieuses & Les Audacieux, the residence combines LGBTQIA+-inclusive housing with multigenerational co-living — a model inspired by a similar project that launched in Berlin in 2012. Loneliness is a severe problem among older LGBTQIA+ people in France, where 65% of queer seniors live alone and suicide rates run two to seven times higher than among heterosexual and cisgender peers. For residents like Alice and Gisèle, moving in represents far more than a change of address — it’s an opportunity to live openly, build community, and leave behind years of isolation and fear.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: For the first time in France, LGBTQIA+ seniors have a dedicated, safe space where they can live authentically without fear of judgment or discrimination. The multigenerational model — pairing older residents with a younger flatmate who pays reduced rent — fosters solidarity across generations and helps reduce the deep isolation that plagues so many queer elders. Beyond individual well-being, the project shines a light on a largely invisible population and sets a precedent that could inspire similar housing initiatives across the country. For residents who spent decades hiding who they are, La Maison de la Diversité offers something profound: the freedom to be fully themselves and, for some, even a fresh chance at love.

3️⃣ What’s next: With the Lyon residence now open and fully occupied, Les Audacieuses & Les Audacieux can gather real-world insights to refine the co-living model and advocate for similar projects across France. Demand for LGBTQIA+-affirming senior housing is likely to grow as awareness spreads, making it important for housing authorities and social organizations to explore comparable initiatives. The success of La Maison de la Diversité could also strengthen the case for dedicated policy support and funding for queer-inclusive senior care nationwide.
