Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Delegates from 184 nations have gathered in Geneva for the final scheduled negotiations on a legally binding global treaty to tackle the escalating plastic pollution crisis, with key debates centered on limiting production versus waste management approaches.
📈 One key stat: Only 9 percent of all plastic gets recycled, leading to 20-25 million tons of plastic waste contaminating lakes, rivers and seas each year, creating an urgent environmental and health crisis.
💬 One key quote: “The world wants and indeed needs a plastic convention or treaty, because the crisis is getting out of hand,” said UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen in a press briefing.

1️⃣ The big picture: Delegates from 184 countries have gathered in Geneva for the final scheduled negotiations on a global plastic pollution treaty. After three and a half years of talks, nations remain divided primarily over whether to limit plastic production or focus on waste management. Most countries, especially from the Global South, support production caps, while fossil fuel-producing nations and the petrochemical industry prefer waste management solutions. With plastic production expected to triple by 2060 and only 9th percent currently being recycled, the health and environmental impacts have become severe. Scientists have discovered plastics everywhere from mountain peaks to the human brain, with research linking exposure to various health problems.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This negotiation represents the most significant global effort to date to create a legally binding agreement addressing plastic pollution across its entire lifecycle. The talks bring together a diverse coalition of 184 countries willing to collaborate on an urgent environmental crisis that affects everyone. Environmental advocates, health experts, and representatives from communities most impacted by plastic pollution have a formal platform to influence the proceedings. Scientific evidence about plastics’ harmful impacts has reached a critical mass, creating unprecedented pressure for meaningful action. The potential treaty could establish new international standards that protect ecosystems, human health, and vulnerable communities from toxic plastic pollution.

3️⃣ What’s next: Negotiators will work through contentious issues over the next week in Geneva, trying to bridge divides between production caps and waste management approaches. If successful, the treaty will need to be ratified by individual countries and implemented through national policies. Environmental organizations will continue monitoring progress to ensure the final agreement effectively addresses the plastic pollution crisis.
