Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Currently, humans are using the equivalent of 1.7 Earths to sustain our modern way of living and more than 2 billion metric tons of waste are generated every year, contributing heavily to the climate change crisis. Fortunately, many products can be recycled to decrease the pressure on our natural planet, and Global Recycling Day is a great time to make a commitment to recycling (if you haven’t already!). So, we had to ask: What is the most important information you need to know about this year’s Global Recycling Day?

👉 Official Name: Global Recycling Day
💚 Cause: To raise awareness of global warming and encourage people to recycle items rather than throw them away
📅 Next Date: March 18, 2026
🌐 Official Website: https://www.globalrecyclingday.com/

Keep on reading to find out all the important information about Global Recycling Day at a glance, including its big picture, why it’s important, and how you can get involved. We’ll then share its brief history, three interesting facts about it, its future dates, and how you’ll never miss any important awareness event again.

The Most Important Information About Global Recycling Day at a Glance

1️⃣ The big picture: Global Recycling Day was first established in 2018 to support sustainability efforts and promote the importance of recycling. Since then, it has grown to become an annual event that brings together governments, organizations, and individuals to raise awareness of the negative impacts of waste and encourage people to take action to save our planet. The official concept of Global Recycling Day is to think “resource, not waste”.

2️⃣ Why is this important: Recycling protects our natural resources, saves energy, and is key to combating climate change. February 2024 was the hottest February since records began in 1850. The combined land and global temperature has increased at an average rate of 0.11oF per decade, with the last three decades warming 3x faster. Global warming is causing the melting of the world’s polar ice caps and increasing sea levels, as well as creating more frequent droughts and severe storms, affecting the health of plants, animals, and humans.

3️⃣ How can you get involved: There are many ways you can get involved in Global Recycling Day. For example, numerous events are held across the country on this day, such as recycling drives and community clean-up efforts, to encourage the public to recycle more. You can also consider setting up your own recycling event or spreading awareness of the impact of waste on the environment through your social media channels.

Below are our favorite charities that are especially relevant this awareness week:

The Brief History of Global Recycling Day

When was this event established: Global Recycling Day was founded in 2018 by the President of the Bureau for International Recycling (BIR), Ranjit Baxi, as a recycling initiative that encourages us to see our trash as an opportunity to save the planet.

How has it developed since then: Today, Global Recycling Day is used to help recognize and celebrate the important role recycling plays in preserving precious natural resources and protecting the diversity of our planet. During Global Recycling Day, businesses and nonprofits also provide plenty of opportunities for people to participate in clean-up and recycling efforts.

3 Interesting Facts About Global Recycling Day

  1. Legislative Changes: Since Global Recycling Day was launched, a lot of progress has been made to cut down on plastic waste. For example, numerous countries and states, including Jamaica and the UK, have now banned plastic straws, bags, and other single-use plastic items.
  2. Raising Awareness: The very first Global Recycling Day garnered support from more than 13 million people around the globe, creating more than 300,000 local jobs in the EU alone. In the same year, 9 world cities hosted official events with a further 10.3 million people engaging on social media. Today, recycling is a $200 billion industry in the US alone.
  3. Global Collaboration: Since 2018, Global Recycling Day has fostered international collaboration to create a more sustainable and circular economy. For example, later that same year, the Global Plastic Action Partnership was founded to accelerate the global response to the growing plastic pollution crisis.
