Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: After 170 years, a stretch of Lake Huron beach is being restored to the Saugeen First Nation following Canada’s Supreme Court decision to uphold their treaty rights, strengthening Indigenous land claims across the country.
📈 One key stat: A 1.5 mile stretch of beach promised in an 1854 treaty with the Crown is finally being returned to its rightful owners after 170 years of being wrongly omitted from the Saugeen First Nation reserve.
💬 One key quote: “We’re talking about a very specific, very precise parcel of reserve land that was set aside for the Saugeen. The Crown had failed to properly survey and demarcate that in the 19th century.”

1️⃣ The big picture: Canada’s Supreme Court has declined to hear a challenge from the town of South Bruce Peninsula, effectively ending a lengthy legal battle over a stretch of beach along Lake Huron. This decision confirms that the beach rightfully belongs to the Saugeen First Nation under an 1854 treaty with the Crown, from which it was mistakenly omitted. The dispute centers on a 1.5-mile stretch of pristine shoreline that attracts numerous tourists each summer. The court’s decision upholds previous rulings that recognized the surveying error and affirms the Saugeen’s rightful claim to their treaty-promised land.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This historic ruling represents a significant victory for Indigenous treaty rights in Canada, correcting a 170-year-old cartographic error that denied the Saugeen First Nation access to land promised in their treaty. The decision reinforces the principle that reserve lands deserve special protection under Canadian law and cannot be casually dismissed or reinterpreted. This case demonstrates that even after generations, historical injustices can be rectified through the legal system when treaties are properly interpreted. Beyond this specific beach, the ruling strengthens the foundation for other Indigenous communities to pursue their legitimate land claims based on historical treaties.

3️⃣ What’s next: The Saugeen First Nation has already begun the process of reclamation by changing the beach’s name from Sauble Beach to Saugeen Beach. Management practices for the popular tourist destination will likely be developed in accordance with Saugeen priorities and values. Further discussions may take place between the First Nation, local municipalities, and the federal government regarding shared stewardship arrangements.
