Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Monday 👋

💙 Event of the Week: Indigenous People’s Day

👉 Did you know that today (October 13) is Indigenous People’s Day? This annual holiday celebrates the history and culture of the indigenous peoples of North America.

1️⃣ The big picture: Indigenous People’s Day was first proposed in 1977 during a United Nations-sponsored conference on discrimination against Indigenous populations in the Americas. The idea gained traction over the years, and in 1992, the city of Berkeley, California, officially replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous People’s Day to honor Native American culture and history. Today, this event emphasizes the importance of recognizing the sovereignty of Indigenous nations and promotes awareness of their contributions to society through workshops, lectures, campaigns, and festivals.

2️⃣ Why is this important: This day offers a chance to challenge the harmful narratives surrounding the European colonization of the Americas and to bring attention to the histories of Indigenous peoples that are often overlooked. Indigenous Peoples’ Day promotes healing, respect, and dialogue between cultures, fostering greater understanding and inclusion of Native voices in contemporary society.

3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in Indigenous People’s Day by sharing the stories, art, and activism of Indigenous leaders and artists, using hashtags like #IndigenousPeoplesDay. You can also get involved by joining workshops, lectures, or cultural festivals that highlight Indigenous history, rights, and contributions. Alternatively, you can donate to or volunteer with organizations working to preserve Native cultures, lands, and languages.

📢 Three Good News

🔒 World’s first-ever large-scale carbon storage site successfully injects CO2 below seabed:

  • A major milestone in climate action has just been reached in Norway. The world’s first large-scale commercial carbon storage facility is now fully operational, injecting CO2 deep beneath the North Sea seabed.
  • Unlike past pilot projects, this system is built to work at scale, locking away emissions for a long, long time.
  • The project, called Northern Lights, has successfully stored its first volumes of CO2 nearly 2,600 meters underground—roughly about 1.6 miles beneath the seabed.

🐋 French Polynesia declares the world’s largest marine park to protect ocean life:

  • French Polynesia has announced the creation of the largest marine park in the world. This new marine protected area (MPA) spans the entire exclusive economic zone of the territory, an enormous 4.8 million square kilometers (about 1.9 million square miles).
  • Marine protected areas help rebuild fish populations, protect coral reefs, and reduce ocean pollution. They also make it harder for unsustainable practices to continue unchecked.
  • President Brotherson also announced plans to add another 500,000 square kilometers (193,000 square miles) of highly protected ocean by World Oceans Day 2026.

🧂 Revolutionary molten salt energy storage technology transforms renewable power:

  • A new molten salt energy storage system using melted salt could soon help solve one of renewable energy’s biggest problems. The technology can store power from solar panels and wind turbines for days or even weeks, then release it when needed.
  • While lithium batteries work well for storing energy for hours, this salt system can hold power for much longer periods. It can also handle the massive amounts of energy that entire neighbourhoods or industrial facilities need.
  • When complete, it will store enough power to run around 100,000 homes for 10 hours.
