💚 Honoring Our Heroes ❤️🩹
Affiliate Disclosure
Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,
Happy Monday 👋
Did you know that there are over 25 million first responders in the US alone?
First responders are the first to respond to emergencies. The scene of critical incidents often involves exposure to frightening events and stressful experiences, which can cause mental health problems that frequently go undiagnosed…
So, today, I would like to share an event with you that raises awareness of the struggles faced by first responders and honors the work they do!

Here are the impactful insights that I have for you today:
- Honoring those who help us ❤️🩹
- The cosmetic packaging that is made entirely from renewable sources 🧴
- Help to back a story that empowers readers and gives back 📖
- Discussion of the week: community sharing options 💬
- And more… 💚

❤️🩹 Event of the Week: National First Responders Day
👉 Did you know that tomorrow (October 28) is National First Responders Day? This annual event pays tribute to the endless hours of around-the-clock service first responders provide to their communities.
1️⃣ The big picture: National First Responders Day was founded in 2017 by the US Congress to honor the country’s first responders and pay tribute to the ones who lost their lives in the line of duty. In 2022, Joe Biden issued a White House Proclamation naming October 28 as National First Responders Day. Today, this event is a time to give gratitude and attention to one of America’s most dangerous careers while raising awareness of the high rates of mental and emotional burdens it can bring.
2️⃣ Why is this important: There are over 25 million first responders in the US alone, with 3 million working in law enforcement, fire services, and emergency medical personnel. Sadly, depression and PTSD are five times more common in first responders than in the general population, with 85% of them reporting symptoms related to mental health conditions. In addition, firefighters and police officers are more likely to die by suicide while on duty – in law enforcement, it is estimated that around 125 to 300 police officers commit suicide every year.
3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in National First Responders Day by showing your gratitude for local first responders. For example, you can write personalized “Thank You” cards or bake some cookies for them. In addition, you can help finance equipment and resources, volunteer for your local emergency services, or take a CPR course to better understand these heroes’ jobs while learning a new skill that can be life-saving. Don’t forget to share your acts on social media using the #NationalFirstRespondersDay hashtag.

📢 Three Good News
🧴 Compostable cosmetic packaging offers a plastic-free future:
- Scientists at the University of Coimbra have created compostable cosmetic packaging made entirely from renewable sources.
- Unlike fossil fuel plastics, this packaging is designed to perform just as well while breaking down safely in the environment.
- The research is part of two larger projects: NABIA and Packaging of the Future, designed to create packaging that is sustainable, innovative, and competitive, all while promoting a circular economy.
🐢 Green turtle rebounds, moving from ‘endangered’ to ‘least concern’:
- The green turtle (Chelonia mydas), found across the world’s oceans, is recovering after decades of decline, according to the latest IUCN Red List assessment. The species has been reclassified from endangered to least concern.
- Historically, humans hunted green turtles for their meat and eggs. Even after hunting declined, the species continued to suffer: from entanglement in fishing nets, degradation of nesting beaches, pollution, diseases, and climate change.
- The global population has increased by roughly 28% since the 1970s, following decades of conservation efforts.
📖 Fantasy meets purpose: a story that empowers readers and gives back:
- Our very own Carla Shaik, part of Impactful Ninja’s research and editorial team since 2021, launches her self-published debut novel: ‘The Heart of a Siren’
- This young adult fantasy follows a Siren girl who must confront her family’s past and the power within her after being drawn into a goddess’s wrathful mission. Beyond its captivating story, the book explores powerful themes including coming-of-age, resilience, and female empowerment.
- You can support this project via Kickstarter, with reward options that include donating a copy to International Book Aid, helping share the gift of reading with communities in need.
