Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Bio-LNG, a renewable fuel made from organic waste, can cut shipping emissions by up to 80% across its entire lifecycle and works in existing LNG-powered vessels without any engine modifications.
📈 One key stat: Bio-LNG can reduce emissions by as much as 80% over its entire lifecycle compared to fossil fuels, making it one of the most impactful near-term options available to the shipping industry today.
💬 One key quote: “The companies that act now to secure their place in the bio-LNG supply chain are protecting their future profitability. Early adopters have the most to gain.

1️⃣ The big picture: Shipping is one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries, and pressure to decarbonize is mounting fast as the International Maritime Organization pushes toward net-zero emissions by or around 2050. Bio-LNG, a renewable fuel produced from organic waste such as livestock manure, food scraps, and agricultural residues, is gaining attention as a practical near-term solution. Because it is chemically identical to fossil LNG, ships already equipped with LNG engines can switch to bio-LNG without any costly modifications. Across its full lifecycle, bio-LNG can cut emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional fossil fuels. New regulations in Europe, including FuelEU Maritime, are creating additional financial incentives for shipping companies to adopt it sooner rather than later.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Shipping companies no longer have to wait for next-generation technologies to start making a real dent in their emissions, as bio-LNG offers an up to 80% lifecycle emissions reduction using infrastructure many fleets already have. Producing bio-LNG from organic waste also captures methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere during decomposition, delivering a double climate benefit. Under FuelEU Maritime pooling rules, companies that build a surplus compliance balance by using bio-LNG can sell that surplus to other operators, turning environmental action into a new revenue stream. Local production from regional waste streams also reduces dependence on imported fossil fuels, strengthening energy security for companies and countries alike. As demand grows and production scales up, bio-LNG has the potential to move from a niche fuel to a mainstream pillar of clean maritime transport.

3️⃣ What’s next: Global legislation, particularly in Europe, is expected to keep expanding incentives that lower the cost barriers around bio-LNG production and distribution. Shipping companies are likely to accelerate supply chain agreements as tightening regulations make early action increasingly valuable. Scaling up feedstock collection and building more liquefaction infrastructure will be critical to meeting growing demand across the sector.
