On a broader scale, well-insulated homes help ease pressure on the electricity grid during peak demand periods, lowering the cost of integrating renewables. Research shows that around three million Australian homes need to be upgraded and electrified to meet national emissions targets, underlining the urgent need for large-scale retrofit programs. Encouragingly, both federal and state governments are now rolling out new standards, rating schemes, and rebate programs to help households make the switch.
