Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Three new FireSat satellites launched in July 2026 offer firefighters in the Amazon and beyond hourly high-resolution fire detection data, giving communities a better shot at catching wildfires early enough to respond.
📈 One key stat: FireSat aims to deliver up to 5×5 meter resolution fire imagery every hour by 2029, a major leap from existing systems that either update every two weeks or miss small fires entirely due to low resolution.
💬 One key quote: “We can’t predict where the fire is going to be. But if we can monitor it with a very high temporal resolution, that gives us more time for response,” said Ricardo Abad, a remote sensing and GIS expert at the Brazilian nonprofit Instituto Socioambiental.

1️⃣ The big picture: Record wildfires tore through South America in 2024, burning areas that had never seen fire before and causing widespread health and environmental damage. With an El Niño pattern expected to intensify drought and fire risk through 2027, fire experts are racing to improve detection and response capabilities. Earth Fire Alliance launched the first three operational FireSat satellites in July 2026, with plans to deploy around 50 low-orbit satellites by 2030. Once fully operational, the system could deliver fire imagery at up to 5×5 meter resolution every hour, far surpassing any existing technology. However, experts and Indigenous communities warn that better satellite data alone cannot overcome the deep funding gaps and governance failures that slow firefighting responses across the Amazon basin.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: For the first time, firefighters and park rangers in remote regions like the Amazon will have access to fire detection data that is both high-resolution and frequently updated, closing a critical gap that existing satellites have never been able to fill. The system is designed to detect even cool, smoldering fires through smoke and cloud cover, meaning fires can be caught earlier before they grow out of control. Early adopters including Indigenous-focused organizations in Brazil are already being brought into the program, ensuring the technology reaches the communities most at risk. Once fully rolled out in 2027, free non-commercial licenses will give researchers and firefighting organizations access to the data just in time for what could be a severe fire season. Earth Fire Alliance estimates the system could help reduce global wildfire emissions by 5 to 10% per year, a meaningful contribution to slowing climate change.

3️⃣ What’s next: The three satellites are currently being tested and calibrated, with a first cohort of early adopters gaining access to data within the next few months. Full public access, including free non-commercial licenses for researchers and firefighting organizations, is planned for 2027. Earth Fire Alliance aims to complete its full constellation of around 50 satellites by 2030, eventually improving update frequency to every 20 minutes.
