Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Three community groups are using sport and movement not just for fitness, but to fight loneliness and build genuine human connection for people who need it most.
📈 One key stat: Sport in Mind has supported more than 60,000 people through free sport and physical activity sessions, showing how powerful movement can be as a tool for mental health recovery.
💬 One key quote: “What we’ve seen is that the benefits go both ways and that the people participating feel healthier, more connected and more purposeful through helping others,” said Ed Field, head of operations at GoodGym.

1️⃣ The big picture: Loneliness and social isolation are serious problems affecting millions of people, and three community groups in the UK are tackling these challenges through sport and movement. Sport in Mind, founded in 2010, runs free sessions for people experiencing mental health problems, working alongside the NHS to use sport as a route to recovery and confidence. The Bluetits Chill Swimmers grew from a small Welsh group into a global network of people who gather outdoors to swim in cold water, share a ritual and build real friendships. GoodGym takes a different angle, sending members to run, walk or cycle to community projects and isolated older people, combining exercise with practical help. Together, these three groups show that getting active can serve a much deeper purpose than physical fitness alone.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Sport and movement are proving to be powerful, accessible tools for addressing one of society’s most widespread and underreported health crises: loneliness. All three of these groups are free or volunteer-led, meaning they remove financial barriers and make community genuinely open to anyone. Bringing people together around a shared activity builds trust and belonging in ways that are hard to manufacture through other means, creating lasting social bonds. GoodGym’s model shows that exercise can simultaneously benefit the person doing it and someone who truly needs help, multiplying the positive impact of every session. As these groups continue to grow, they demonstrate a scalable, human-centered approach to both mental health support and community building that goes far beyond what traditional services can offer.

3️⃣ What’s next: Sport in Mind continues to expand its free sessions across the UK in partnership with the NHS and local community organizations. The Bluetits Chill Swimmers keep growing their global network of informal local groups, making cold water swimming more accessible to people everywhere. GoodGym is scaling its model of active community service, giving more people a meaningful reason to get moving while strengthening neighborhoods at the same time.
