Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Indonesia introduced a new forestry regulation to simplify carbon trading, attract international investment, and strengthen the credibility of its carbon credit market.
📈 One key stat: Indonesia is home to one of the world’s largest tropical forest areas, making it a significant natural asset for carbon absorption and a key player in global carbon markets.
💬 One key quote: “A new chapter in the carbon market era,” said Edo Mahendra, senior advisor to Indonesia’s forestry minister, describing what the new regulation means for the country.

1️⃣ The big picture: Indonesia has introduced Regulation No. 6/2026 through its Ministry of Forestry, aiming to expand and strengthen its forestry carbon market. The regulation simplifies carbon trading procedures and broadens access to carbon investment mechanisms to attract more international participation. A key feature is the adoption of a “nesting” approach, which prevents double counting of carbon credits and builds greater confidence in the market. With one of the world’s largest tropical forest areas, Indonesia sits on an enormous natural carbon storage asset that officials see as central to the country’s climate strategy. As global demand for high-integrity carbon credits grows, this new framework positions Indonesia to become a leading player in international carbon markets.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Clearer and more streamlined processes make it easier for international investors to participate in Indonesia’s forestry carbon market, channeling more climate finance toward forest protection. By adopting the nesting approach to prevent double counting, the regulation directly addresses one of the biggest credibility concerns in carbon markets, raising the overall quality of available credits. Protecting and monetizing Indonesia’s vast tropical forests creates a strong financial incentive to keep those forests standing, which benefits biodiversity and global climate goals alike. Aligning with international market standards helps build trust among buyers worldwide, which can drive greater demand and higher prices for Indonesian forest carbon credits. More investment flowing into forestry carbon projects can also support local communities that depend on forests for their livelihoods, creating co-benefits that go well beyond carbon accounting.

3️⃣ What’s next: Indonesia plans to continue aligning its carbon market framework with international standards to strengthen its global credibility. The government is also working to develop the broader carbon market infrastructure needed to support the nesting system. Officials have signaled an ambition to move from being a passive participant to a leading force in international carbon markets.
