1️⃣ The big picture: Scientists from the US Army Research Laboratory and Lehigh University have created an innovative copper-based alloy that pushes the boundaries of high-temperature performance. The new Cu-Ta-Li material combines copper’s excellent thermal conductivity with exceptional strength and stability at extreme temperatures. By incorporating tantalum and lithium in a specific nanostructure, researchers achieved properties previously impossible in copper alloys. This development opens new possibilities for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications requiring both heat resistance and conductivity.
