Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Monday 👋

🤍 Event of the Week: White Ribbon Day

👉 Did you know that tomorrow (November 25) is White Ribbon Day? This is a time to raise awareness about preventing gender-based violence.

1️⃣ The big picture: The origins of White Ribbon Day began with a movement in 1991 to address the root causes of men’s violence against women and girls: harmful masculine traits, stereotypes, and social norms. It was initially set up by a group of men in Toronto in response to the École Polytechnique massacre of female students by Marc Lépine in 1989. However, it quickly grew to become a worldwide movement raising awareness of the issue every year on November 25. In 2000, the UN finally designated White Ribbon Day as The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

2️⃣ Why is this important: Violence against women and girls is a significant issue around the world. For instance, almost one in three women are estimated to be victims of sexual or physical violence during their lifetime – that’s approximately 840 million women. Environmental issues can also increase the threats against women. For example, Following the Canterbury earthquake, New Zealand police reported a 53% rise in domestic violence. Furthermore, there was an increase in girls sold into early marriage in exchange for livestock across Ethiopia, to help families cope with the impacts of prolonged droughts. This trend of violence against women shows no signs of slowing down in the modern age, with One in 10 women in the European Union reporting having experienced cyber-harassment since the age of 15.

3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in White Ribbon Day by spreading information about the issue of gender-based violence on social media, using hashtags such as #WhiteRibbonDay and #DomesticViolence. You can also get involved by wearing a white ribbon to show your support to female victims of violence or participating in local events that raise awareness for the cause such as marches, rallies, and online webinars. You can even consider organizing your own event.

Below are our favorite charities that are especially relevant for this awareness event:

📢 Three Good News

🤝 83 countries join call to end fossil fuels at COP30:

  • Representatives from different countries gathered in Belém for the 30th UN Climate Conference (COP30) to abandon the use of fossil fuels globally.
  • Among the countries present were Germany, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and Kenya. The movement is unprecedented in the history of the UN climate conferences.
  • Representatives from 24 countries participated in the coalition’s launch press conference, but the number of nations that have expressed support for the idea has already reached 83.

🧴 Lab-grown oils could replace natural products driving global deforestation:

  • Paris-based SMEY is pioneering lab-grown oils as sustainable alternatives, producing cocoa butter, palm oil, and shea oil in just 30 days with AI and yeast fermentation.
  • The timing couldn’t be more urgent. Starting in December 2025, the European Union will enforce strict new rules: any company importing products linked to deforestation could face fines of up to 4% of global revenue.
  • The breakthrough offers deforestation-free cosmetics ingredients that help companies comply with EU regulations while reducing carbon emissions and stabilizing fragile global supply chains.

🦈 Long-lost sailback shark rediscovered after more than 50 years:

  • One of the rarest sharks in the world has turned up in Papua New Guinea, some 50 years after it was last reported.
  • The rare sailback houndshark, which has an unusually large dorsal fin, was first described by scientists in 1973. That was the last record of its existence, until now.
  • Jack Sagumai at the World Wildlife Fund-Pacific in Papua New Guinea and his colleagues have recently collected photographs of multiple small individuals caught near the mouth of the Gogol River – sparking hope for the species.
