Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: A critically endangered Leadbeater’s possum has been discovered in NSW’s Kosciuszko national park, expanding the known habitat of this rare species beyond Victoria for the first time in decades.
📈 One key stat: Seven images of the elusive possum were captured over a 10-second span in Kosciuszko national park, at least 250km away from the nearest sighting in Victoria.
💬 One key quote: “It was amazing to see that distinctive bushy tail waving among the rows of images on the screen. It jumped right out at me,” said Dr Fred Ford, a senior threatened species officer at the NSW Department.

1️⃣ The big picture: Ecologists have made a remarkable discovery in New South Wales by identifying a critically endangered Leadbeater’s possum in Kosciuszko national park. This tiny marsupial, known as the ‘forest fairy,’ was previously thought to be extinct outside Victoria and hasn’t been documented in NSW for decades. The possum relies on dense, damp areas in old-growth forest and nests in tree hollows that take more than 150 years to form. With fewer than 40 of the lowland subspecies remaining in Victoria’s Yellingbo Forest, this unexpected discovery provides new hope for the species’ future.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This discovery significantly expands the known habitat range of the Leadbeater’s possum, suggesting the species may be more resilient than previously thought. Finding this critically endangered marsupial in a completely different state challenges assumptions about its limited distribution and offers a second chance for conservation efforts. The sighting demonstrates that well-managed national parks can serve as refuges for species thought to be locally extinct. Recent efforts to control feral horses in Kosciuszko national park appear to be creating better conditions for native wildlife, showing that targeted conservation actions can make a real difference for Australia’s endangered species.

3️⃣ What’s next: Ecologists plan to review past surveys of Kosciuszko to see if more possums can be spotted in previous footage. New cameras will be deployed throughout the park to monitor potential populations. Conservation efforts will likely be adjusted to protect this newly discovered habitat for one of Australia’s rarest mammals.
