💚 Rights For All 🗣️
Affiliate Disclosure
Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,
Happy Monday 👋

🗣️ Event of the Week: Human Rights Day
👉 Did you know that this Wednesday (December 10) is Human Rights Day? This is a time to honor and protect the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as human beings
1️⃣ The big picture: Human Rights Day was founded in 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly, when they invited all member states and interested organizations to help establish this event on December 10. This date commemorates the day in 1948 when the UN’s General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration inspired more than 60 international human rights laws that comprise an international standard of human rights, which Human Rights Day celebrates every year. Today, the observance is coordinated by the High Commissioner for Human Rights and other United Nations rights officials. Each year, they choose a specific theme for the event, such as “Stand up for Someone’s Rights Today”, and “Torture and the Global Efforts to Combat It”.
2️⃣ Why is this important: The world is facing a myriad of challenges, most often as a result of human rights violations in underserved and at-risk communities. For example, a record 100 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, while 50 million people are currently living in modern slavery. Also, in 2023 alone, there were 3,420 death sentences in 48 countries, especially in China, Yemen, and Egypt. What’s more, defending the fundamental freedoms of others can be deadly, as there were 320 fatal attacks recorded against human rights protectors and trade unionists across 35 countries during recent years.
3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in Human Rights Day by protecting those at risk in your community and explaining to those around you why human rights for everyone are so important. You can also take the time to read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights or defend the rights of others by donating to or volunteering for nonprofits that uphold human rights internationally.

📢 Three Good News
🌊 Ocean thermal energy offers 24/7 clean power solution for tropical islands:
- Ocean thermal energy conversion systems are gaining traction as a reliable 24/7 clean-energy solution for tropical islands, with pilot projects in the Canary Islands, Japan, and Hawaii demonstrating potential to generate up to 3 terawatts of power globally.
- This system harnesses the temperature difference between warm surface water and cold deep water to generate electricity 24/7, unlike intermittent renewables like wind or solar.
- A small floating pilot project in the Canary Islands joins existing test facilities in Japan and Hawaii, showcasing the technology’s potential.
🏞️ 900 acres of sacred land near Yosemite returned to Miwuk tribe after 175 years:
- Nearly 900 acres of culturally significant land bordering Yosemite National Park has been returned to the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation after 175 years, enabling the tribe to restore biodiversity using traditional ecological practices.
- The land holds deep cultural importance for the Miwuk people, who were expelled from the area during the 19th century with increased settlements and the establishment of Yosemite National Park.
- This transfer represents a major step toward healing historical injustices while creating environmental benefits for the entire region.
🇦🇺 Sydney unveils 6km car-free corridor connecting major waterways:
- After more than two decades of planning and advocacy, Sydney’s GreenWay will officially open on December 14, creating a continuous car-free corridor from Iron Cove on the Parramatta River to the Cooks River.
- Compared to the billions spent on freeways and metro lines, this $57 million investment delivers impressive value by enabling safe, car-free travel across a previously fragmented urban area.
- The corridor preserves precious urban green spaces containing 239 different species, including 10 threatened ones, providing biodiversity benefits alongside transportation improvements.

🤝 Three More Important Awareness Events
🏳️🌈 December 8, Pansexual and Panromantic Pride Day:
- Pansexual and Panromantic Pride Day spreads awareness about pansexuality and pan romanticism and brings together those who identify as pansexual.
- Pansexual and panromantic people receive less attention in the media and so raising awareness about their identity is very important.
🏛️ December 9, International Anti-Corruption Day:
- On International Anti-Corruption Day, we raise awareness about different corrupting forces around the world and those affected by them.
- Corruption is closely linked with instability and social inequality and so preventing corruption is essential for an ethical world.
🐷 December 10, International Animal Rights Day:
- International Animal Rights Day is a time to call on everyone to be compassionate toward animals. And to treat animals as the sentinel beings they are, knowing that they can also experience pain (and joy).
- On this day, we also celebrate the animal sentience laws, which lay the framework for humane policies and encourage a societal shift towards ethical treatment.
