Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: A revolutionary compact nuclear reactor that can power 4,500 homes for 8 years without water will be operational in Saskatchewan by 2029, marking a major advancement in sustainable nuclear energy.
📈 One key stat: Each eVinci microreactor unit can prevent up to 55,000 tons of emissions annually, significantly reducing air pollution and environmental impact.
💬 One key quote: “What we learn through this project will prepare [the council] to assist communities and industries in future projects” stated Mike Crabtree in the official press release.

1️⃣ The big picture: Saskatchewan is pioneering a groundbreaking $80 million CAD energy project featuring Westinghouse’s eVinci microreactor, a compact nuclear system set to launch in 2029. This innovative reactor can operate for eight years without water while powering thousands of homes. Unlike traditional nuclear plants, the eVinci uses heat pipe technology for cooling and can be easily transported to remote locations. The system generates 5 megawatts of electricity and over 13 megawatts of high-temperature heat, making it versatile for both power generation and industrial applications.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This breakthrough in nuclear technology offers a sustainable solution for clean energy generation without the massive infrastructure requirements of traditional nuclear plants. The compact design fits within a standard hockey rink, making it accessible for communities of various sizes. The water-independent cooling system removes a major resource constraint, while the ability to prevent 55,000 tons of emissions annually supports climate goals. Remote communities previously unable to access reliable power can now benefit from stable, clean energy through this portable solution.

3️⃣ What’s next: The initial eVinci unit will serve as a proof-of-concept for future installations across Saskatchewan and beyond. Westinghouse plans to manage the used fuel by either returning it to their facilities or storing it securely underground. The Saskatchewan Research Council will use insights from this pioneer project to support other communities and industries in adopting this technology. The successful implementation could pave the way for widespread adoption of microreactors as a clean energy solution.
