Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Monday 👋

🐘 Event of the Week: World Elephant Day

👉 Did you know that today (August 12) is World Elephant Day? This awareness event was founded to conserve the world’s largest land mammals – elephants and raise public awareness of the threats facing these magnificent animals.

1️⃣ The big picture: World Elephant Day was founded in 2012 by Patricia Sims and the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation of Thailand as a global awareness initiative to protect endangered elephant species. Today, the event partners with over 100 elephant conservation organizations to give voice to the issues threatening elephants and conduct campaigns to inspire public action.

2️⃣ Why is this important: Elephants are the world’s largest-living land animals, weighing up to 7.5 tons! They are also vital ecosystem engineers, maintaining the fertility of local plant populations and creating pathways in densely forested habitats that allow passage for other animals. Yet, all our elephant species are threatened with extinction due to wildlife crime (particularly poaching), habitat loss, and climate change. For example, the total population of Asian elephants has more than halved in the last century and African elephant populations have declined by 98% since 1500.

3️⃣ How can you get involved: There are many ways you can get involved in World Elephant Day. For example, you can host your own awareness event using the educational and fundraising materials provided on the World Elephant Day website. Alternatively, you can spread the word through your social media pages or purchase the “When Elephants Were Young” documentary to support the work of World Elephant Day and learn more about what you can do to save elephants.

You can also consider donating to one or more charities that are working conserve endangered wild species around the world, including elephants:

📢 Three Good News

♨️ A new loop pipe can transport without electrical power:

  • A team of researchers from Nagoya University, Japan, has developed a loop heat pipe (LHP) that can transport up to 10 kW of heat without the need for electricity, making it the largest heat transport capability in the world.
  • Loop heat pipes are commonly used in manned space flights, electric vehicles, and home electronic appliances. However, the heat required to produce this energy has posed significant sustainability issues in these industries.
  • The new loop heat pipe has improved on previous similar inventions through an 18% reduction in size, a 1.6 times increase in heat transport capacity, and a four-fold increase in heat transfer efficiency.

🛍️ The European Union updates regulations to combat greenwashing:

  • The European Union has released new measures aimed at challenging companies that promote so-called sustainable products with no real evidence (also called greenwashing).
  • Greenwashing is an attempt by a company to present its products as more environmentally friendly than they actually are. Common methods of greenwashing include using vague terminology and the unfounded use of an eco-label
  • The new regulations, which are due to come into effect in 2026, include a ban on certain vague wording such as ‘eco’ and ‘green’ without further specification, and introducing systematic verification of sustainability claims.
