Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Keep reading to find out all the important information about the Spring Equinox at a glance: its big picture, why it’s important, and how you can get involved. We’ll then share its brief history, three interesting facts about it, its future dates, and how you’ll never miss any important awareness event again.

The Most Important Information About the Spring Equinox at a Glance

1️⃣ The big picture: The Spring Equinox, also called the Vernal Equinox or the March Equinox, is a significant celestial phenomenon when the Sun is exactly above the Equator and day and night are of equal length. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Vernal Equinox marks the first day of astronomical spring. The reverse is true in the Southern Hemisphere, where the same equinox signals the first day of autumn. Since ancient times, cultures have celebrated this lively moment of crop blooming by honoring nature and ancestors. Today, there are many festivals worldwide dedicated to this event and its symbols.

2️⃣ Why it is important: The Spring Equinox is associated with rebirth and renewal. As the coldness of the winter months fades, it marks the beginning of spring, which signifies not only worldly renewal but also personal fresh starts. Like seeds germinating, it is a significant time for personal growth and intention setting. The Vernal Equinox invites people to stay in balance (like the day and night), reset the old, and make space for new projects, ideas, goals, and beautiful moments in their lives. It is also a time of celebration in many cultures, with unique festivals, customs, and symbols that unite communities and promise a successful harvest and plentiful resources for the season ahead.

3️⃣ How you can celebrate: You can observe the Spring Equinox by getting in touch with nature, doing some simple rituals associated with this event, or holding a springtime party:

  1. Enjoy natural displays: Take time on this day to enjoy the beautiful sunrise or sunset. For a solo celebration, you can also spend time in the warmer nature, admire the birds, swim outdoors, or pick flowers for an indoor arrangement.
  2. Rituals of spring: The Spring Equinox is associated with the symbol of the egg, representing new life and beginnings, plus there are many egg traditions to try. In addition, you can have a seed-planting ritual or take a moment to set intentions and goals, thinking of small, practical steps to achieve them in this season of renewal.
  3. Host a spring party: Celebrate the arrival of spring by organizing a joyful gathering with friends and family. Prepare an outdoor feast and decorate with springtime icons like field flowers, seasonal fruits, and special crafts. Don’t forget to dress for the occasion and watch the sunset together!

A Brief History of the Spring Equinox

When was this event established: The Spring Equinox has been a celebratory moment and a way of timekeeping since prehistory. For example, the Babylonians began their new year with the first new moon after the Spring Equinox, through the Akitu ceremony. Moreover, in the ancient Persian calendar, the new year starts at the March Equinox. In addition, the Stonehenge monument in the UK is considered to have been a place of ceremonial congregations on this equinox for Neolithic peoples.

How has it developed since then: Since antiquity, populations across Europe engaged in various festivities during the Vernal Equinox to ensure a good harvest in the upcoming year and celebrate spring. For example, the Romans had the Hilaria festival while Slavic peoples performed the ritual of Drowning the Morana. Today, Neopagans observe the Ostara holiday on the March Equinox, as a cardinal point on the Wheel of the Year. In addition, Stonehenge and the pre-Hispanic site of Teotihuacán in Mexico gather large numbers of tourists, neopagans, New Agers, and other congregations to watch the sunrise and sunset.

3 Interesting Facts About the Spring Equinox

  1. Connected events: On the day of the Spring Equinox, we also observe World Storytelling Day, a global celebration of the art of oral stories and storytellers. In addition, we have World Citizen Day and World Unity Week, two events that advance the rights and equality of people worldwide, both inspired by the symbols of the equinox. What’s more, the Vernal Equinox also coincides with International Astrology Day
  2. Mexican festivities: Many people celebrate the Spring Equinox at the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán, Mexico, and at the Chichén Itzá in Malinalco. At the Pyramid, people dance, burn incense, chant, and stand at the top of the Pyramid with arms outstretched facing the sun in the morning. Each year on the Vernal Equinox, the Pyramid attracts more than 1 million visitors
  3. Worldwide customs: In many Arab countries, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the Spring Equinox. In addition, Egyptians observe Sham el-Nessim, a national festival and public holiday that marks the beginning of spring. In Japan, Vernal Equinox Day is an official national holiday, spent visiting family graves and holding family reunions.
