Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Switzerland has awarded $52.6 million in federal funding to a carbon capture project at a biomass power plant, helping accelerate industrial decarbonization and introducing new separation technology to the country.
📈 One key stat: Up to 1.2 billion Swiss francs in public funding flows through the ITINERO program by 2030, signaling a major national commitment to cutting emissions and reducing investment risk in key infrastructure.
💬 One key quote: “Analysts say such public funding plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between early-stage innovation and commercial deployment, particularly in sectors where emissions remain difficult to eliminate.”

1️⃣ The big picture: Switzerland has selected a carbon capture and storage project at a biomass power plant in Otelfingen to receive up to 41.7 million Swiss francs, roughly $52.6 million, in federal funding. Regionalwerke Baden AG submitted the winning proposal, developed alongside BKW AEK Contracting AG, Linde Gas Schweiz AG, Airfix Carbon AG, and South Pole AG. Part of the captured CO2 will be permanently stored at a facility elsewhere in Europe, while the rest will replace fossil-based carbon dioxide in industrial processes. Beyond the single project, this decision is part of a wider wave of climate-focused tenders launched in 2025 under Switzerland’s Climate and Innovation Act, channeled through the ITINERO program, which allocates up to 1.2 billion Swiss francs through 2030.
2️⃣ Why is this good news: Securing dedicated public funding for carbon capture helps close the financing gap that often slows promising climate technologies from reaching commercial scale. Introducing a new separation technology in Switzerland marks a technical step forward for the country’s energy sector, potentially paving the way for broader domestic adoption. Reusing captured CO2 as a climate-neutral industrial gas means the project does more than just store emissions, it actively displaces fossil-based carbon dioxide from industrial supply chains. Public investment programs like ITINERO send a clear signal to private investors that governments are serious about scaling carbon management, encouraging further private capital to follow. Across Europe, similar efforts are gaining momentum, suggesting this Swiss funding decision fits into a larger, accelerating shift toward industrial decarbonization.
3️⃣ What’s next: Captured carbon dioxide from the Otelfingen plant will be transported to a permanent storage facility elsewhere in Europe, with logistics and partnerships still being finalized. The ITINERO program continues channeling public funds through 2030, meaning more projects across Switzerland can apply for support. Other European governments are watching similar carbon capture initiatives closely, and comparable programs are expected to expand across the continent.
