Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: The Symbiosis Coalition has opened its second call for high-quality nature-based carbon removal projects, now expanding into mangrove restoration for the first time, bringing more ecosystems into its 20-million-tonne commitment.
📈 One key stat: Established as a more than 20-million-tonne advance market commitment by 2030, the Symbiosis Coalition represents one of the largest corporate pledges to nature-based carbon dioxide removal.
💬 One key quote: “Symbiosis aims for contracted projects that represent best-in-class examples of restoration, aligned with the latest science and standards.”

1️⃣ The big picture: A coalition of major global companies including Google, Meta, Microsoft, McKinsey, Salesforce, Bain and Company, and REI Co-op is scaling up its investment in nature-based carbon removal by launching a second request for proposals. Known as the Symbiosis Coalition, the group represents a more than 20-million-tonne advance market commitment for nature-based carbon dioxide removal projects by 2030. This second call expands the types of projects eligible for funding, adding mangrove restoration alongside reforestation and agroforestry for the first time. Projects must meet strict quality criteria, use approved standards and methodologies, and offer at least 100,000 tonnes of carbon credits over a 10-year period. A pilot pre-purchase track for up to 1 million tonnes from mangrove projects is also part of this new round.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Bringing mangrove ecosystems into the fold for the first time greatly widens the scope of nature-based solutions that can receive serious corporate backing, helping protect some of the planet’s most carbon-rich coastal habitats. High-integrity standards baked into the selection process mean the credits generated will carry real environmental credibility, strengthening trust in voluntary carbon markets overall. With some of the world’s largest tech and consulting firms driving demand, this coalition sends a strong signal that corporate climate commitments can translate into meaningful, science-aligned action. Funding nature-based removal at this scale also creates co-benefits beyond carbon, including biodiversity protection, watershed health, and support for local communities. By building on its first round and already announcing projects in the Brazilian Amazon and the US, the coalition is demonstrating that large-scale nature-based carbon removal can move from commitment to contracted reality.

3️⃣ What’s next: Project developers interested in reforestation, agroforestry, or mangrove restoration can submit documentation following the coalition’s published Readiness Checklist. Symbiosis will continue advancing projects from its first request for proposals, with additional offtake agreements expected to be announced later in 2026. Priority goes to developers with proven experience, strong financing, and the capacity to deliver more than 500,000 tonnes over 10 years.
