Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Friday 👋

🌊 Blue Friday Movement Transforms Holiday Shopping Into Ocean Conservation Action

1️⃣ The big picture: Blue Friday offers a positive alternative to Black Friday’s overconsumption by channeling shopping into ocean conservation efforts. Created in 2019 by Canadian small businesses, the movement raises funds for tangible ocean cleanup projects through participating brands that donate portions of their sales. This year, creative impact studio Artterra launched the Blue Earth Box campaign, combining art, community support, and environmental action. Each plastic-free gift box sold directs $30 to ocean conservation groups and projects, with partners including numerous environmental NGOs reaching over one million Instagram followers collectively.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: The campaign transforms holiday shopping from wasteful consumption into meaningful environmental action. Rather than fueling the purchase of unwanted items destined for landfills, Blue Friday creates a direct connection between consumer choices and ocean health. The community-based approach brings together artists, environmental organizations, and conscious brands in collective action, amplifying their impact beyond what any single entity could achieve alone. By designing the initiative with zero plastic and made-to-order fulfillment, the campaign models sustainable business practices while simultaneously funding real-world ocean cleanup operations and technological innovation for plastic pollution monitoring.

3️⃣ What’s next: The Blue Earth Box campaign runs from November 26th to December 1st, with all orders produced and shipped after the campaign ends to prevent overproduction and waste. Anyone interested can purchase a box during this window or share the campaign on social media to help spread the word. Artterra welcomes new partners for future environmental projects throughout the year.

📢 Three More Good News

🪴 Scientists Crack Code to Save World’s Rarest Plants From Extinction:

  • 📰 The quick summary: Botanists worldwide are decoding the biology of extremely rare plants to reintroduce them successfully into the wild, helping rebuild self-sustaining populations and prevent extinction.
  • 📈 One key stat: Around 45% of the world’s flowering plants are threatened with extinction, making plant reintroduction projects a vital conservation strategy.
  • 💬 One key quote: “There is no technological reason why any plant species should become extinct. There are some that are more difficult than others, but really, it’s a question of just applying ourselves.” said Paul Smith, secretary-general of Botanic Gardens Conservation International.

🌎 Indigenous Communities Secure Rights to 34 Million Hectares of Land Through Global Legal Initiative:

  • 📰 The quick summary: The Tenure Facility has secured legal land rights for Indigenous communities across 34 million hectares globally, helping protect crucial ecosystems while supporting cultural preservation.
  • 📈 One key stat: The Tenure Facility has made progress in securing land rights covering 34 million hectares across 35 projects, an area larger than Greece, showcasing how legal protection can rapidly scale to benefit both communities and ecosystems.
  • 💬 One key quote: “This work is really about land tenure, and about land and people. And it is very important because at this point in our world, where we are breaching planetary boundaries, we are still hesitating to invest in the people who protect our land, our forests and our diverse systems.”

New Fuel Cell Breakthrough Makes Hydrogen Power 400°C Cooler:

  • 📰 The quick summary: Scientists have developed a fuel cell that operates efficiently at 300°C instead of the traditional 700-800°C, making hydrogen power technology more affordable and practical for everyday applications.
  • 📈 One key stat: The new fuel cell achieves the benchmark proton conductivity of more than 0.01 S/cm at just 300°C, comparable to what conventional fuel cells reach only at 600-700°C.
  • 💬 One key quote: Beyond fuel cells, the same principle can be applied to other technologies, such as low-temperature electrolyzes, hydrogen pumps, and reactors that convert CO2 into valuable chemicals, thereby multiplying the impact of decarbonization.
