Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: Three endangered species – the okapi, Cape vulture, and brush-tailed bettong – are making significant recoveries thanks to focused conservation efforts across Africa and Australia.
📈 One key stat: More than 28,500 species are currently listed as endangered or critically endangered by the IUCN, highlighting the critical importance of successful conservation stories.
💬 One key quote: “We are on a mission, if you like, to bring back some of these native species that have gone missing in our landscape since European colonization,” Derek Sandow of the Marna Banggara initiative told CNN.

1️⃣ The big picture: Each year on the third Friday of May, Endangered Species Day draws attention to the plight of threatened wildlife worldwide. With over 900 known species already extinct and at least 28,500 others endangered or critically endangered according to the IUCN, conservation efforts are more critical than ever. Habitat loss from resource extraction combined with climate change continues to squeeze wildlife into smaller territories, threatening their survival. Despite these enormous challenges, dedicated conservation initiatives around the world are achieving meaningful success stories, proving that targeted protection efforts can help endangered species recover.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: Conservation projects spanning three continents are demonstrating that species recovery is possible with dedicated effort. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, an okapi has returned to Epulu in the Okapi Wildlife Reserve after a decade-long absence following a brutal militia attack, offering new hope for this rare forest species. South Africa’s Cape vulture population has stabilized after decades of decline, thanks to over 50 years of comprehensive protection measures including power line retrofits and the creation of safe zones. Meanwhile in Australia, the brush-tailed bettong has made such an impressive comeback that it was recently reclassified from critically endangered to near threatened, following the creation of a predator-proof sanctuary in an area where it had previously gone extinct.

3️⃣ What’s next: Continued protection and expansion of safe habitats will be essential for these species to maintain their recovery trajectories. Ongoing monitoring will help conservationists track population changes and adapt strategies accordingly. These success stories can serve as models for other endangered species conservation efforts, demonstrating that even species on the brink can recover with proper interventions and sustained commitment.
