Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Friday 👋

Did you know the future of city travel might not be cars but bikes with a boost?

They are one of the fastest-growing ways to shrink emissions while boosting physical activity: E-bikes cut emissions, ease traffic, and get people moving without the sweat of a traditional bike…

Cleaner air, cheaper commutes, and healthier people could all come from a simple pedal assist!

Here are the impactful insights that I have for you today:

  • How e-bikes are cutting emissions while improving health and mobility 🚲
  • Ancient Amazon cities reveal hidden climate change warnings 🏛️
  • The improved concrete battery that stores 10 times more energy 🔋
  • Discussion of the week: small transportation shifts 💬
  • And more… 💚

🚲 E-Bikes Transform Cities: Cutting Emissions While Improving Health and Mobility

1️⃣ The big picture: America stands at a transportation crossroads where cities must decide between maintaining car-centric infrastructure or embracing alternatives like e-bikes. E-bike sales are booming across the country, with some research indicating they’re outpacing electric car adoption. These motorized bicycles offer an environmentally friendly transportation option that reduces carbon emissions, decreases traffic congestion, and provides significant public health benefits through increased physical activity. The challenge now lies in adapting urban infrastructure to accommodate e-bikes and making them financially accessible to more people.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: E-bikes are already proving effective at replacing car trips, with studies showing people travel farther and use them more frequently than conventional bicycles. Programs in British Columbia and Denver have demonstrated measurable benefits – reducing vehicle miles traveled, cutting carbon emissions, and increasing physical activity. Low-income communities especially benefit when e-bikes become accessible, expanding job opportunities by extending travel range beyond walking distance or limited transit routes. Additionally, e-bike infrastructure is surprisingly cost-effective compared to road expansion projects, making it an economically smart investment for cities.

3️⃣ What’s next: Cities need to invest in dedicated, protected bike lanes and proper infrastructure maintenance to ensure safety for e-bike riders. Subsidizing e-bikes for low-income residents, similar to California’s program that provided up to $2,000 in incentives, would make them more accessible. Developing charging stations and secure storage facilities will also be critical to support wider e-bike adoption.
