Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: UK battery companies are developing innovative storage technologies to enable greater renewable energy adoption, allowing wind and solar power to be stored and used when needed to support a carbon-free grid.
📈 One key stat: Global battery storage installations are projected to increase fivefold to 1,500 gigawatt hours by 2027, enabling renewable energy to power grids even when the sun isn’t shining or wind isn’t blowing.
💬 One key quote: “What suddenly started to happen is that people have woken up to realise that energy storage is needed to be able to deploy more renewables on to the grid,” said Jonathan Marren, the Invinity chief executive.

1️⃣ The big picture: UK companies like Invinity Energy Systems are developing specialized battery technologies to solve a critical challenge in the transition to renewable energy. While wind and solar power offer clean, affordable electricity, they only generate power when weather conditions allow. Battery storage provides the crucial ability to capture this energy and release it when needed, supporting stable electricity grids powered by renewables. Companies are exploring different battery chemistries beyond lithium-ion, with Invinity using vanadium-based flow batteries that can store energy for longer durations. This technological diversity helps address concerns about grid reliability as countries shift toward carbon-free energy systems.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: These energy storage innovations make renewable power more practical by overcoming the intermittency challenge, allowing solar and wind to serve as reliable baseload power. Flow batteries offer particular advantages including non-flammability, longer lifespans without capacity degradation, and simpler manufacturing that creates local jobs in places like Scotland. The technology’s deployment across multiple countries demonstrates its commercial viability. Battery storage development also enhances energy security, protecting against blackouts and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, while supporting the entire renewable energy ecosystem to accelerate progress toward net zero emissions.

3️⃣ What’s next: Invinity is competing for government support through a “cap and floor” scheme that would guarantee electricity prices within a set range, reducing financial risk. If successful, the company plans a major production expansion from its current capacity of five containers weekly. Such growth could transform Invinity from a company valued at £90 million to one employing 1,000 workers.
