Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

The Most Important Information About World Day Against Child Labor at a Glance

1️⃣ The big picture: World Day Against Child Labor urges businesses, governments, and the public to focus their attention on the global extent of child labor and advance ways to eradicate it. The event spreads awareness of the serious mental, emotional, and physical health problems faced by child workers and the global concerns that sustain this type of abuse, such as struggling economies, poverty, and military warfare. As a result, this day aims to change consumer behaviors, catalyze policy improvements, and support the global fight against child labor alongside businesses and NGOs

2️⃣ Why it is important: 160 million children are in child labor globally, accounting for nearly one in 10 children worldwide. Over the years, military conflicts, economic crises, and the COVID-19 pandemic have plunged more families into poverty and forced millions more children into child labor. As a result, between 2018 and 2021, the number of child laborers increased by 8.4 million. The worst affected were children aged 5 to 11, who currently account for more than half the number of child workers in the world. Furthermore, in the world’s poorest countries, over 1 in 5 children are forced to work

  2. Support the protectors: You can donate your time and money to dedicated organizations fighting to eliminate child labor and child trafficking, which is very often a child labor pipeline. In addition, you can join them as an advocate or ambassador and work with policymakers worldwide to protect legislation against child workers.
  3. Inspire others: Use this opportunity to talk to friends, family, and colleagues about the issue of child labor and raise funds together to help end it. You can also share important facts about child labor on social media and the goods made through it to catalyze community change.

A Brief History of World Day Against Child Labor

When was this event established: World Day Against Child Labor was launched in 2002 by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to foster the worldwide movement against child labor and raise awareness and activism to prevent it. They wanted to unite governments, workers’ organizations, civil societies, and millions of people worldwide to highlight the plight of child laborers and inspire change.

How has it developed since then: Later on, World Day Against Child Labor was ratified by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to activate more global support, funds, and visibility for this campaign and the child workers it fights to protect. The UNGA also declared 2021 the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour and asked the ILO to organize it. In addition, each year, the Day has a new impactful theme, such as “NO to child labor – YES to quality education!” and “Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams!

3 Interesting Facts About World Day Against Child Labor

  1. International protection: The issue of child labor is combated by three main international conventions. One is the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 138, concerning the minimum age for admission to employment. Then, there is the ILO Convention No. 182, which fights for the elimination of the worst forms of child labor. In addition, there is the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which protects youth holistically.
  2. The most affected: Africa has the largest number of child workers: 72.1 million African children are estimated to be in child labor, with 31.5 million of them in hazardous work. Moreover, the agricultural sector holds the largest share of child workers: 70% of all those in child labor, adding up to 112 million children
