Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

📰 The quick summary: The Yurok Tribe has reclaimed 17,000 acres of sacred land around the Klamath River in Northern California, completing a 47,097-acre transfer that effectively doubles the tribe’s land holdings and creates a permanent salmon sanctuary.
📈 One key stat: The 47,097-acre land transfer is the largest landback deal in California history, allowing the Yurok Tribe to reclaim territory lost during the gold rush when they lost 90 percent of their land.
💬 One key quote: “No words can describe how we feel knowing that our land is coming back to the ownership of the Yurok people,” said Joseph James, the chairman of the Yurok Tribal Council.

1️⃣ The big picture: The Yurok Tribe has successfully completed the largest landback deal in California history, reclaiming 17,000 acres of sacred land around the Klamath River. This final parcel completes a $56 million, 47,097-acre land transfer that effectively doubles the tribe’s current land holdings. The deal comes just months after the removal of four dams on the Klamath River, the largest dam removal project in US history, which has already allowed salmon to swim upstream to spawn for the first time in over a century. The land includes critical salmon habitat, particularly Blue Creek, an essential cold-water tributary where salmon can cool off before heading further upstream.

2️⃣ Why is this good news: This historic land return preserves critical redwood forests that help protect against climate change and provide crucial habitat for endangered species like the marbled murrelet and northern spotted owl. The protection of Blue Creek, a cold-water tributary, creates an essential cooling zone for salmon migrating upstream to spawn following the recent removal of four dams on the Klamath River. The timing was perfect as the transfer protected these forests just before a new round of timber harvesting would have begun. Studies show conservation goals are more effectively met when Indigenous peoples manage their own territories, creating a sustainable model for future conservation efforts across the country.

3️⃣ What’s next: The Yurok Tribe has already designated the land as a salmon sanctuary and community forest. They plan to put the land into a trust and care for it in perpetuity. Restoration will involve various projects from stream restoration to road maintenance, with tribal officials committed to doing everything possible to protect the environment.
