When was this event established: Decembeard was officially founded in 2012 by Bowel Cancer UK after the growing success of Movember, which encouraged people to grow mustaches to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
How has it developed since then: Since its founding, Decembeard is a campaign that has been used by organizations and charities around the world to raise awareness of bowel cancer by encouraging individuals, companies, and schools to hold fun activities throughout the month, particularly beard-growing. For people who can’t grow facial hair easily, they are encouraged to dye their hair or even shave it all off to draw attention to the importance of bowel cancer awareness and early detection.

- Commercial Backing: Over the years, Decembeared has garnered support from multiple large corporations. For example, both L’Oréal and Just for Men have developed and released their own beard products in response to the growing trend. Furthermore, the History Channel promotes Decembeard during advert breaks.
