Hey fellow impactful ninja ?
You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.
Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.
But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.
Why do we add these product links?
First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.
And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.
What do these affiliate links mean for you?
First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.
And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.
What do these affiliate links mean for us?
When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.
When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).
And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.
What does this mean for me personally?
You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.
Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.
Stay impactful,

You only get one chance to make a good first impression and that is the unique job of a receptionist. They are the face of their companies and their professionalism helps everyone get what they need. Keep reading to find out all the important information about National Receptionists’ Day at a glance – its big picture, why it’s important, and how you can get involved. We’ll then share its brief history, three interesting facts about it, its future dates, and how you’ll never miss any important awareness event again.
The Most Important Information About National Receptionists’ Day at a Glance
1️⃣ The big picture: National Receptionists’ Day helps recognize the value of a receptionist’s role. Sometimes called the most important people in the office, they are the first person a customer or client meets when they enter a company or hospitality business. They create an all-important first impression, thus playing a key part in the company’s success. So, this event promotes pride and professionalism among receptionists and engages community support.
2️⃣ Why it is important: There are over 1.2 million receptionists in the US, 90% of them being women, especially in legal and medical offices. Receptionists have countless responsibilities besides welcoming visitors and solving their issues. They also maintain office expenses, manage inventory and security systems, or assist the HR team with recruitment and termination processes. At the same time, they have an average salary of only $30,000 per year and only 0.4% employment growth, making it a tough job with, sometimes, not-on-par rewards.
3️⃣ How you can get involved: If you are an employer, use National Receptionists’ Day to shine a light on your receptionists and celebrate their achievements for your company. As a client or colleague, you can bring a nice gift for when they arrive in the morning – flowers, sweets, wellness gift cards – or you can invite them to lunch. In addition, you can organize appreciation events during lunch break or simply give a heartfelt “thank you” for all the work they provide! It is all about making your receptionist feel appreciated.
A Brief History of National Receptionists’ Day
When was this event established: National Receptionists’ Day was founded in 1991 by Jennifer Alexander, the Director of the National Receptionists Association, to celebrate the role of professional receptionists and help the general public distinguish their skills from that of an administrator or a secretary.
How has it developed since then: Today, National Receptionists’ Day is an international event celebrated in many places around the world including Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, the UK, and other European countries. Each year, this date gets recognized and actively celebrated by diverse businesses worldwide.
3 Interesting Facts About National Receptionists’ Day
- Connected Celebrations: In the last full week of April, there is also an observance for veterinary receptionists, celebrating their important role in the success of veterinary businesses and the health of our pets. This event and National Receptionists’ Day are one week apart, making them good opportunities to celebrate all types of front-desk personnel.
- Fun Competitions: Each year, to complement National Receptionists’ Day, the UK’s Association of Front Office Management organizes a competition for the Best Hotel Receptionist of the Year, and another competition to select the Best Corporate Receptionist of the Year.
- Secure Work Prospects: Receptionists have, for the next 10 years, a less than 1% projected job growth, a metric used to express how many people are employed in a work position for certain periods of time. This means that the receptionist job demand is expected to remain around the same, thus providing a stable and reliable work choice.
