Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

We’ll then share its brief history, three interesting facts about it, its future dates, and how you’ll never miss any important awareness event again.

The Most Important Information About National Singles Day at a Glance

1️⃣ The big picture: National Singles Day is celebrated in September, on the Saturday of National Singles Week. This event honors and celebrates the single lifestyle and serves as a reminder that singles are vibrant, active contributors to their communities, workplaces, families, and cultures. This observance also fights to debunk misconceptions associated with singledom, such as chronic unhappiness, loneliness, fear of intimacy, or selfishness. What’s more, singles are encouraged today to connect with each other, share experiences, and give tips and insights on how to build a successful single life.

2️⃣ Why it is important: In the US, the number of single adults is growing every year. The youngest and oldest Americans are the most likely to be single – 41% of those ages 18 to 29 and 36% of those 65 and older say they are single. Many individuals are happier when single because of a natural inclination towards solitude. Time away from a partner allows them to engage in self-reflection, recharge their batteries, and find contentment in their own company. In addition, many singles report having more time for physical activity and making meaningful connections with friends, as well as being self-sufficient and well-adjusted to situations where they need to be independent

3️⃣ How you can get involved: You can celebrate National Singles Day by embracing the single life, finding strategies to be more happily single, and connecting with platonic loved ones in your life:

  1. Embrace your singledom: We know that the more single people embrace their single life, the more satisfied they feel, so make sure to connect to the joys of being single. For example, you can take yourself on an amazing solo date or try some exciting outdoor activities.
  2. Reflect and improve: If you do not consider yourself happily single yet, take some time today to reflect on some strategies to improve your singledom and check out tips to achieve a more fulfilling single life.
  3. Cherish other relationships: Being single can give you the opportunity to engage more with friends and family. Organize some fun activities for today to connect and discover the beauties of non-romantic relationships.
  4. Promote it: Get in touch with this day’s organizers to volunteer, sponsor, or host a dedicated event in the name of this observance.

A Brief History of National Singles Day

When was this event established: National Singles Day was established in the 1980s by the Buckeye Singles Council in Columbus, Ohio as a weeklong event called National Unmarried and Single Americans Week. This compelled the US Census Bureau to begin publishing statistics on singles in America for the very first time. Through the event, organizers aimed to recognize and celebrate single people, as well as provide them with opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences.

How has it developed since then: Over the years, National Singles Day became the staple event of National Singles Week and has gained popularity across the US, with many using it as a chance to embrace their independence and self-love. This event helps people display their singledom confidently and reminds us that being single is not something to be ashamed of, but a valuable experience that should be cherished.

3 Interesting Facts About National Singles Day

  1. A Chinese celebration: The Chinese also have an unofficial national holiday for singles called Double 1 celebrated on November 11 (11/11). This date was chosen because the numeral 1 resembles a bare stick, a Chinese internet slang for an unmarried man, while the four “1”s symbolize the demographic group of single people. This event is now a major celebration, mainly because of widespread, special online shopping discounts and in-person entertainment.
  2. Other events for singles: Singles Awareness Day (or Singles Appreciation Day) is an unofficial holiday celebrated on February 15, as a complement or even antithesis to Valentine’s Day for people who are not married or in a romantic relationship. The UK also has a National Singles Day observed on March 11, which was initially called Single Awareness Day as well. Since the event’s acronym spells “S.A.D.”, organizers changed the title for a more positive tone.
  3. Happy singles: Research studies showed that unpartnered people can be healthy, happy, and sometimes even more socially connected than married people. In addition, people who are happily single often have rich social lives filled with friends, family, and a wide array of social activities. Moreover, some studies found that people who are most physically active are those who have always been single.
