Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

We all know how good it feels to hear a kind word, to get a helping hand, or how one smile can brighten our day. We now have a global movement that encourages mutual empathy and helps us make other people smile as well. On top of it, good deeds come with plenty of benefits for the doer, especially in a world where the gap between haves and the have-nots is widening. So, we had to ask: What is the most important information you need to know about this year’s Good Deeds Day?

Keep reading to find out all the important information about Good Deeds Day at a glance: its big picture, why it’s important, and how you can get involved. We’ll then share its brief history, three interesting facts about it, its future dates, and how you’ll never miss any important awareness event again.

The Most Important Information About Good Deeds Day at a Glance

1️⃣ The big picture: Good Deeds Day is all about making the world a better place through collective action. The motto of this event is to “Think good, speak good, do good”, to create a world where good leads the way. This celebration raises awareness of the power of charity work and altruistic acts for loved ones, our communities, and humanity. It is a great opportunity to do acts of service for anyone in need by volunteering, mentoring the youth, caring for the elderly, or protecting the planet

2️⃣ Why it is important: We live in a world increasingly polarized between haves and have-nots; between people with plenty of resources and people with too little to fulfill their needs, especially their mental health, social networks, education, and physical health. It is our collective responsibility to bridge this gap, and one act of kindness can make a big difference and inspire others to do the same. This event takes this mission to a global scale, boosting collective action to do good in organized settings or through personal altruistic acts.

3️⃣ How you can get involved: On Good Deeds Day, you can make an “organized good deed” for the less fortunate, inspire others to do the same, or do good in your workplace or to loved ones:

  1. Plan for Kindness: Register on the official Good Deeds Day website with a “good deed plan” for your community or other particularly disadvantaged ones (plenty of ideas here) by identifying their needs and finding ways to fill the gap. Organize this with family, friends, and neighbors to maximize your impact.
  2. Encourage Others to Do the Same: Spread love and awareness of this event on social media using the hashtag #GoodDeedsDay and their official toolkits, templates, and graphics to encourage people to do good. You can also share and promote your personal Good Deeds project and inspire others.
  3. A Simple Good Deed: Arrange a fundraising event for your favorite charity or other uplifting activities within your workplace. Besides that, a simple act of kindness for the planet or support for a loved one is enough to make you a Good Deeds hero!

A Brief History of Good Deeds Day

When was this event established: Good Deeds Day was established in 2007 by philanthropist and businesswoman Shari Arison, together with the Israel-based nonprofit Ruach Tova and the Ted Arison Family Foundation. They wanted to unite people around the world in doing good deeds for one another and the planet. The first event was a local affair in Israel, with 7,000 volunteers participating in 130 community service projects.

How has it developed since then: Over the years, Good Deeds Day has become a global movement of dedicated people and organizations. For example, in 2011, they celebrated the event in 10 international cities, and, in 2013, they united 16,000 volunteers from 50 countries to do hundreds of philanthropic projects. Moreover, in 2015, they mobilized 930,000 people to do over 11,000 acts of kindness for their communities. And, in 2019, they held the largest Good Deeds Day to date, with over 3,900,000 volunteers from 108 countries conducting almost 8 million hours of service.

3 Interesting Facts About Good Deeds Day

  1. Key Partners: In 2012, the first year of Good Deeds Day reached 50 countries worldwide. The organizers partnered with MTV Global to increase the visibility of the event in Europe, which helped gather an audience of over 24 million people. Furthermore, in 2013, they partnered with ABC Network to help broadcast the cause to a large American audience.
  2. Doing Good = Feeling Good: Doing good deeds increases serotonin and dopamine while decreasing cortisol and other stress hormones. This creates the “helper’s high” reaction – when you do something good for someone, your brain’s pleasure centers light up, releasing endorphins. Not only that, doing good has also been shown to make us happier at work and in life.
  3. A Healthier Life: Doing kind acts can impact our physical health – specifically blood pressure – and decrease hypertension. For example, researchers found that adults who volunteered about four hours a week were 40% less likely than non-volunteers to develop hypertension four years later.
