Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

The Most Important Information About OCD Awareness Week at a Glance

1️⃣ The big picture: OCD Awareness Week is a time to raise awareness about Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, understand its impact on individuals, and challenge the common misconceptions surrounding the condition. This week encourages conversations that highlight the true experiences of those living with OCD beyond the stereotype of excessive cleanliness or organization. People with OCD can experience a range of symptoms, but with the right support and treatment, they can lead fulfilling lives. OCD Awareness Week is also an opportunity to celebrate neurodiversity, advocating for more inclusive support systems and understanding.

2️⃣ Why it is important: OCD is a long-lasting condition in which the time-consuming symptoms can cause significant distress or interfere with daily life. A Brief History of OCD Awareness Week

When was this event established: OCD Awareness Week was initiated by the International OCD Foundation in 2009. The awareness week is celebrated during Mental Health Awareness Month (October).

How has it developed since then: Since its inception, OCD Awareness Week has evolved into a global initiative, with mental health organizations, advocates, and communities coming together to raise awareness about Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. In 2002, as an effort to expand the awareness week globally, the founding organization pushed to develop an online community where everyone could learn about OCD and spread awareness on social media, through live online chats, or even by making a YouTube video about OCD as part of the #OCDweek video challenge. Over the years, online engagement has made it easier to spread accurate information and dismantle misconceptions about OCD.

3 Interesting Facts About OCD Awareness Week

  1. A nurture-or-nature disorder: Though OCD generally has a genetic component, the upbringing environment does play a significant role in the development of the condition. For example, some studies have reported an association between childhood trauma and obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
  2. It is obsessive and/or compulsive: Obsessions and compulsions can occur independently of one another. However, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors occur together in most people with OCD. In some cases, compulsions might be covert.
  3. A chronic condition: OCD doesn’t go away. It may go into remission and flare back up from time to time. Therapy and other treatments can help with the symptoms when they occur.
