Hey fellow impactful ninja ?

You may have noticed that Impactful Ninja is all about providing helpful information to make a positive impact on the world and society. And that we love to link back to where we found all the information for each of our posts.

  • Most of these links are informational-based for you to check out their primary sources with one click.

  • But some of these links are so-called "affiliate links" to products that we recommend.

Why do we add these product links?

First and foremost, because we believe that they add value to you. For example, when we wrote a post about the environmental impact of long showers, we came across an EPA recommendation to use WaterSense showerheads. So we linked to where you can find them. Or, for many of our posts, we also link to our favorite books on that topic so that you can get a much more holistic overview than one single blog post could provide.

And when there is an affiliate program for these products, we sign up for it. For example, as Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

What do these affiliate links mean for you?
  1. First, and most importantly, we still only recommend products that we believe add value for you.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission - but at no additional costs to you.

  3. And when you buy something through a link that is not an affiliate link, we won’t receive any commission but we’ll still be happy to have helped you.

What do these affiliate links mean for us?
  1. When we find products that we believe add value to you and the seller has an affiliate program, we sign up for it.

  2. When you buy something through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission (at no extra costs to you).

  3. And at this point in time, all money is reinvested in sharing the most helpful content with you. This includes all operating costs for running this site and the content creation itself.

What does this mean for me personally?

You may have noticed by the way Impactful Ninja is operated that money is not the driving factor behind it. It is a passion project of mine and I love to share helpful information with you to make a positive impact on the world and society. However, it's a project in that I invest a lot of time and also quite some money.

Eventually, my dream is to one day turn this passion project into my full-time job and provide even more helpful information. But that's still a long time to go.

Stay impactful,

Happy Monday 👋

🩺 Event of the Week: National Health Center Week

👉 Did you know that this week (August 3-9) is National Health Center Week? This event is celebrated every year to acknowledge and celebrate the vital services provided by Community Health Centers across the US.

1️⃣ The big picture: National Health Center Week was set up by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) in 1987 to honor the invaluable contributions of Community Health Centers (CHCs) across the US. Starting with just two centers in 1965, the event is now used to raise awareness of the 1,400 Community Health Centers across the nation working to serve patients with affordable primary care. There is a different theme every year to highlight the tremendous work carried out by health centers, as well as the far-reaching impacts of the community health center movement.

2️⃣ Why is this important: Today, Community Health Centers in the US serve around 31.5 million patients annually across 15,000 communities, with demand rising every year. Sadly, we still have a long way to go before reaching true health equity across the nation, with American Indian and Alaska Natives (AIAN), alongside Hispanic individuals, being twice as likely to not have health insurance than their white counterparts. And, Black infants are twice as likely to die of health problems than White babies. Community Health Centers provide services to those who would otherwise not be able to access appropriate healthcare, making them a vital part of communities.

3️⃣ How can you get involved: You can get involved in National Health Center Week by setting up a fundraising or awareness event to support your local Community Health Center. In addition, you can also volunteer for a local health center or spread the word via your social media channels.

Below are our favorite charities that are especially relevant for this awareness event:

If you are looking for additional inspiration, you can find a wide range of charitable causes to support in our charity support blog.

📢 Three Good News

💚 Australia unveils plans to build one of the world’s largest green energy projects:

  • Located on Mirning territory spanning 15,000 km², the proposed Western Green Energy Hub (WGEH) will feature 25 million solar panels and 3,000 wind turbines working together to generate renewable energy.
  • The scale of this project represents a significant leap forward in renewable energy production capacity, potentially creating a reliable supply of green hydrogen for global markets.
  • Local communities will also benefit through the Mirning Traditional Lands Aboriginal Corporation’s 10% interest in the project, ensuring economic benefits flow to Indigenous people.

🐟 Endangered Chinook salmon return to California river after 100-year absence:

  • Adult winter-run Chinook salmon have returned to California’s McCloud River after nearly a century, marking a significant milestone in the recovery of this endangered species.
  • Winter-run Chinook salmon is one of just nine species considered to be most at risk of extinction in the near-term, making their return a crucial development for biodiversity conservation.
  • The return follows decades of work by Indigenous tribes, including the Winnemem Wintu, who have fought against dam projects that harm salmon habitats by warming water temperatures beyond the chilly range salmon need for egg-laying.
